Thread: Sorry, Rangers
Hello, everyone. I am a Ranger, andI have been since September or October of last year.
I spent 10 hours at the fan fest today, and I was in on the discussion for Scout/Ranger/Creature Handlers.
GreenMarine (who's real name escapes me right now) was the guy who built Ranger in the first place. He expressed his own disatisfaction with not being allowed the time to polish Ranger the way he had intended. He has some geat ideas for us, he has some great stuff WRITTEN for us. He has done some really cool new traps and such...
Greenmarineis currently tied up building the Space Expansion, but even at that he is actively trying to get us some changes. Hehas personally read the Outdoorsman proposal and he said he likes what he sees. He didn't say he endorses the entire plan, but that he "liked it".
Hewants to changeTracking intosomething morepractical, he wants to add additional types ofcamps (including things like Hunting Blinds), he wants to make campsmore functional - saying directly that he would like to see the high tech field baseremain activeeven in combat. He has already scripted new traps, but hasn't been able to implement them yet. There is a lot of stuff coming.
We are going to have to wait though. They have stretched their human resources as thin as they can. While we cannot expect any love until after the Space Expansion ships I personally think the quality of the attention we are going to get will be worth the wait.
Here's the Kicker: GreenMarine is the same developer who did the Chef revamp. I think we can expect some great things.
Just my 2 creds.
Warm Regards,

How after almost a year with this game being public (3 or 4 years developing it) and with the decision to do an expansion to this game, that they do not have enough peopleand "resources" available is beyond me. I mean the people who are currently working there, have to be at their breaking point.
Yes. All 4 of them. That's about all SWGs budget probably allows.
I think all SOEs money is going into EQ2 at this point.
SWG has the disadvantage of being kept alive because it's 'Star Wars', the name keeps it going, not the game itself. It's why I'm still here
The other advantage EQ2 has over SWG is it's not being built around PvP. As fun as PvP is for a small minority of the players, it has been the bases of most nerfs and whine-fests we've seen, leading to the whole squeaky wheal gets the grease fixes.

GreenMarine=Brandon Reinhart
He is also the man responsible for player cities. I look forward to having him get a chance to work on us again. He does some really nice things when he is given permission.
I am excited to see what he comes up with. I am sure it will be very cool.
I have (slowly) been building a ranger on TC. Hopefully if there are more Rangers on there we will get more visability with the Devs. I think our Ranger meet already accomplished that to an extent. If we make them regular we may begin to see more attention. I think TH's post in the Ranger Meet thread was the first Red name we've had on here since the Feedback Thread.
And we jhave fun having fun. I rarely have fun when I am grumpy anyway.

Hey folks, I posted in smuggler hoping to get responce from Green Marine, which I did. I asked him to please go look at the outdoorsman proposal, in prep for returning to ranger work after smuggler sometime. Don't expect anything done to ranger for a while, but at least now we have brought our hard work to our devs attention. Again, I have a whole new post up for this info, but I'll copy it here.
And that's fine, they need it. But it was reported that from FF, when you were talking with Rangers, you have never heard of our Outdoorsman proposal.
Mine was a carrier spaceship that brought the mining equipment (the toy in the box) to the planet Zarkon. Can't remember what happened to the toy... funny that...

I'm not sure that's a fair comparison--some of those boxes are really fun.
I enjoy boxes. I built a submarine out of a bunch of HUGE boxes when I was a kid.
It sank.
Not even, more like 400, maybe. Of the ones that read here, about 250.

I'm willing to bet that there are maybe 1000 hardcore Ranger enthusiasts on all the servers combined.
