So me being a CH/BE/Ranger have no place, ever, in PvP is what you are saying? Do you also believe that Ranger should be PvE only and have no place in PvP, ever?
No mate, you missunderstand.
What i am saying is that if you want to kill the big stuff your template should reflect that desire. A stacker SHOULD be able to take you down if you have no PRIMARY combat profession and especially a jedi.
Im not saying you have no place, infact not that at all, im simply saying the pets you use HELP you in combat, they do no fight for you they help you. If you want to be great in combat also you should take a combat profession. We rangers are suposed the ultimate hunters, however we are useless without a primary combat profession. We all want this to change but comparing our problems with yours is wrong. Your skills enable to you kill bigger things, fight along side your pets, you have pets that do EXTRA damage to bring down prey andshould enable you to last a fight longer than most, however they do not and should not be considered as a primary combat profession.
YouSHOULD have a role in pvp, as should all professions however its the degree of involvment that is in question. My person view is that ch should only enhance your existing combat skills (suport) rather than be a primary combat profession itself. Im not saying it cannot be your primary class if you dont want it to be, just if you wish to become a powerfull player in combat regards you should be required to pick up more combat ability via the primary combat professions.

I also find it silly to insist CH must be taken with another profession to be effective. Is there any other profession that requires taking other professions to accomplish what should be allowed on its own? How long have the Rangers been asking for some sort of innate combat abilities, yet here you are trying to deny this to someone else?
CH's are not the only class they have nerfed in this:
(1)Entertainers have been done over no end by the BF healing ability.
(2) Doctors have been done over by the ability to heal wounds and status effects both on themselves and others.
(3) BH have been done over because of force lighting which is basically a light lightning cannon.
Do you want me to go on?
You are no worse off than half a dozen professions that have had thier abilities duplicated or taken away by the Jedi. Rangers and Scoutson the other hand have been continually nerfed by the ENTIRE COMMUNITY who wanted our abilities for free. No offence but you have little to worry about as most jedi will take master defence and Master Lightsaber and not the animal abilities.

Ho man I had to fight replying to this. I still may get yelled at by Calc though.
1. Some of the new jedi powers are overboard, even for the uber profession of jedi, that is more populated then ummm ranger.
2. I own two gimped professions, master ranger and master pistoleer, so I know where you're coming from.
3. The devs no longer see any other professions outside of jedi and the BH some how wedged themselves into the peripheral vision.
4. We have our own problems of getting our profession to even have anything worthy of the jedi taking from us.(Rangers)
5. If I pointed my pistol at my own head and pulled the trigger not much would happen. We are already serioulsy underpowered for an elite combat profession. (pistoleer)
I see where you are coming from, and I agree it's pretty messed up that with the bugs they pretty much have you. But these are the same developers that ignored the rangers talking about things like /animalcalm to get an attacking creature to stop attacking, but then gave the jedi that exact skill. Not to mention the jedi power to make an animal attack the jedi's target. Can CH do that? No, and hell no.
The devs don't give a flying fig about non jedi professions. Calc if want to try to tell me otherwise try. But considering the secondary profession of jedi, that is not part of the primary profession line up, got way more then a 1-2 month revamp time of the devs, I think I make my point. There are sooo many broken or useless or gimped professions that peopld have held since launch or shortly after, that have not gotten crap. Ohhhh Chefs got a revamp. Whoopeee!!
CH has been nerfed since they launched the supposed phase one of the combat balance, then stopped doing it that way. Why? Because they realised what the more intelligent player base was saying all along, that it will seriously nerf all the professions in one way or another and totally screw up the game and piss off the players until the whole CB is done.
My best advise is just suck it up, Like I'm regrettabley doing, until the CB rolls into Live Servers. Then we all have ground to seriously **edit** and flame the devs all we want for stuff that's not right or still broken. And they had better get their a$$hats on those fixes and tweeks of the CB BEFORE any further new content.

I agree with this. Basically no one is working on anything that is not "game breaking" (read $$$ making) until the combat balance publish happens. Hopefully (with lots of hope) most professions will come on par with each other at that time.
As for whether CH is a secondary combatprofession... that is something we could argue for months with no resolution.

I say wait for the combat rebalance til you consider this a massive boon to the CH professsion. After the rebalance if you find that you are fighting jedi daily in pvp then perhaps you could have a problem. With the massive work it will take for a jedi to progress and the severe punishment of death for a jedi I think they will still be scarce if they ever get the BH's fixed. lol.
Just build a macro /tellpet attack and loop it. Then let that jedi waste his force points using an attack that might work if your macro fails.
I think an added mod to CH would help this. Pet Loyalty - This ability allows you to build up a strong relationship with your pet that will make him falter should he be turned against you. Building up Loyalty would progress thru one of the lines and get a nice strong bump at Master.
BTW, I would like some support on getting harvesting removed from Jedi since when they grind they will be out harvesting me totally. Its just not fair... lol.
I agree with the pet loyalty idea. Especially if you consider that Jedi are possibly going to be able to reflect ranged attacks in the future. Jedi are meant to be powerful. A few of the skills (like this one) probably need a bit of balance tweaking (like a loyalty mod might supply) but I can't fully comment because I haven't seen the skill in action.

I hate to sound cold, but... You people nerfed our camps and never gave it a second thought. Help us make them useful again and we will think about it.
Let's get this straight. CH did nothing to our camps. It was the player base in general, those that had to take novice scout to call a vehicle that caused this change. Creature Handlers could already make camps. Yes it was applauded by them, because the devs could not be bothered to fix auto-storing and other problems.
And if calling things is your only justification for camps being useful, well, I think that says just how useful they really are.
But, please, drop the "what if your weapon turned against you" hyperbole. It's not a "weapon", but a separate entity.
From a design standpoint, pets are a weapon. The profession is listed as a combat profession and all abilities revolve around it. In these terms they very much are a weapon.
From your more "realistic" view of them being a separate entity, they are one that has been nurtured and raised since birth by the handler. It would be like a Jedi causing your best friend to turn on you (or in our case a child turning on their parent). Now if they allow that then I guess we would have no room to complain.
Last I saw though, the force could not cause you to turn on the people you love to such an extent.
