also, I think MBH/Master Ranger will actually be a bad template for anything except NPC missions. I wouldn't recommend it if you're planning on going Jedi hunting. So while it might be FOTM, unlike BH/CM, I don't think that many people will keep it.
Question for you Phenix. Helios said the ranger would have mods somewhere around what the Bounty Hunter profession has. Now admittedly I don't PvP or jedi hunt. But won't these mods stack with the Bounty Hunter mods andmake for a fairly strong Bounty Hunter?
Or will this type of template only beviable versus NPCs more than a PvP tempalte? One of my concerns was that the Ranger\Bounty Hunter template being to strong and the Devs swing a nerf bat or both or one to tone down this template.

Well, right now, Riflemen have /cover and BHs use this to their advantage. But once you initiate combat, the best part about rifleman is the powerful hits, not the cover. Ranger won't have that kind of power. Our mods will help, sure. I mean, I can take most boss marks now as a MBH/Master Ranger, and those changes will ensure I can take most of them with ease. But in the end, I know that having the ability to slow your targets' movement and weapons speed (Combat Medic) will be much more effective in PvP. In PvE, we'll do fine-- the mods and extra SP for healing will be very nice. But in the end, we are not going to be able to match the offensive power or the crowd control power of other templates.
We'll be better than a BH/Ranger is now, that's for sure, but I think we'll see a big spike, and then a big drop again once people realize that picking up stealth means giving up power or the ability to debuff. Some will keep it and they'll use it well, but stealth is a tricky skill to use properly if you have less power-- you have to use it at the exact right time. Otherwise, you're toast.

When the rangers in the game were not like that, we moved on to other things. Now that rangers are being revamped to something resembling the ranger organizations in the Star Wars context, a lot of us are coming back. I've always wanted to come back to ranger, but I wanted to come back to something that fit the Star Wars mold.
dito...
I stuck it out for a wile, nearly six months, but in the end I had to move on. at the time dropping it was the hardest thing I ever did. but every time I looked into a new build, I would try and put ranger into it. but there were never enough points. if there is a boom, like all the other times before it will come and go. but this time for me the ranger title stays. with the points coming, I can put some more meat on my bones.
boom's can be good, and they can be bad. but sooner people will look else where when the shine becomes lackluster and they drift off to the next big thing in game, or uber flavor of the month. but in the end there will always be the rangers no matter what happens. they cannot take that away from us.
let the next boom come. at least now maybe people will see ranger as other then harvesters, and as the warriors we were always meant to be.
