I had a known dark side wannabe contact me, offering 1 million credits per mark if I helped him find the MArk of the Hero quest spawns. Initially, I said I would get back to him, as we have been pummeled with good herb meat and avian meat spawns all week.
Now that I have had time to think about it, I have decided to refuse the job.
Now don't get me wrong, 4 million credits would be nice...
However, this so called "jedi" has been griefing light jedi that were trying to level in the squill cave. Everything from hiring BHs to hunt them, right up to getting guildmates to drag MOBs across jedi as they spam area attacks. My guild's jedis have been victim to this nonsense a few times already.
Now, I'm not going to flame him on the board and call him names (beyond what I already have here). Perhaps he wishes to play a treacherous dark jedi...thats fine. I want to play a Rebel ranger who will not assist a dark jedi in getting an artifact of such power.
The only way I would accept this is if I my guildies agreed to mount up with their biggest guns and the guild BH and gank this jedi while he hunts with me...but I do not know if such treachery is in my nature.

Wow soo much anti jedi and generalism about "kids" .... not all jedi are silly little kids. I really dont understand all this anti jedi stuff. I used to think the ranger forum was one of the most mature and open minded of the forums..... come on people group hug ! Yes some jedi are wankers but a lot arent, but it certainly looks like there are no antarian rangers getting about, certainly not in this post anyway...
I'll track for a jedi the same as for anyone else .. IF im not busy and they ask me politely - i definately wont refuse services based on proffession.. what next ? Sorry i dont track for smugglers... sorry i dont track for Bothans..
I know the Jedi who are not kids, and are pretty great folks once you get to know them. They hate the "kids" too as SOE set up Jedi to facilitate some horrable attitudes. I really, really wish that SOE had a human in the loop before the unlock to weed out the "unworthy".
Oh, and another point: an hour of my time comes to about 1.75 mil cr, all things being equal. Offer 2 and I might pay attention. Meanwhile, I have 4 docs, 2 crafter-docs, 5 chefs and 3 armorsmiths to feed.

One of the problems I have with Ranger, among other professions, is that there is no real benefit to specialization or longevity. Why become a Master Ranger, or a Master Image Designer, and stay with it for longer than a month?

Wow...he (inadvertantly) gave you the double whammy there, eh Paks?

I'm considering taking up Squad Leader just to finish it off, but I don't want to be a copier.

I too welcome the new Rangers,as I`m 1 of them
I agree that the dabblers, nomatter what we think, will have a positive affect.(as far as the voiceingis conserned)
On the tracking note.It all depends on the person.I dont really care what class he/she is,or what the quest is.If the pay is good, they`r cool andact like matures, that adds to my experience...well...I got np with it.When I get tired of the tells,I just change the tag to Hunter.
...track me if u can...

I decided to try Ranger for the simple reason that i never have. I am currently reading this forum whilst working on my last box (survival) for master scout. I all ready have a permanent order for meat from the biggest food supplier on my server and have promised him a regular supply. I think the idea of being able to hunt what you want without having to click for ages on the mission terminals whilst in a solo group to be a big bonus. I am not one for PvP and have spent most of my time hunting higher level mobs whilst in the afore mentioned solo groups. So not all of us are starting this profession with the sole purpose of tracking for jedi or hero badge hunters. If i am not busy and i get asked to help them then i wil but they will have to pay according to what i could earn gathering the best meat available (currently charging between 25-50cpu for these as a scout)
have fun all.

No! You can't!! Then 'they', /pointat all, will think am copying you!
I took SL for a very very brief test easrlier in the spring, has some well useful skills, especially for group hunts.... anyway, back on topic...
I'm an Antarian Ranger. I will and do help our jedi brethren, and sistren, track for the quests, track for hunts, or just plain walk into town and check things out.
So long as they pay my travelling costs and are good company, no problem. Some of them were rangers once themselves y'know...
Jedi are as much a part of the game as any other character class. True, there are some right plonkers there, but I guess there are even scouts or rangers that manage to rub people up the wrong way. Mutual respect often leads to a greater understanding of other characters roles and in turn can add to the network of players you can call upon for help, advice, huntin' buddies...
oh yeah, was getting back on topic...
...influx of new rangers...
First off Hi there! Always nice to see more folk taking up our profession.
Second off, the influx of new ranger players means that, on Bria at least, I can hardly walk through a starport without getting a tell for training these days. It's great! Sure, some are only going with tracking, fine, I'm only taking part of CH and part of smuggler. Some, on the other hand will get the bug and, in a while will be on here getting congrats for hitting that MR badge!
Right, I've got a camp to reset then 70k scout xp to pick up.... !!! Soon, soon...
