I helped a Jedi track some peko peko albatrosses once. Normally I would NEVER do anything to help a Jedi (as they do not even belong in this game) but I just had a good feeling about this guy. And as it turns out, I was right, He was a really nice guy (unlike most jedi i've come across). We each split Naboo in half. I scoured the western side, and he searched the eastern side. We spent the whole time just chatting it up while searching. After about 3 hours or so of tracking (i was also hunting while on the clock, as a had a small hide order to fill) he needed to go, so he bank tipped me 450000 credits for my time. We didn't find anything, but it was still a nice experience, but one that I won't do very often.

I am a Ranger 0-0-4-0. I mostly picked this up for the harvesting increase, and the tracking. but the tracking i use for creature hunting. Eventually i will juggle some skill points around, and get some more Ranger skills, as i would like to master it someday.

There is also a large influx of Tracking Rangers because of the Hermit Quest.

I have no problem with dabblers in the profession. The more people we have in it, the more attention we will get.

What I despise is that I have tracked for 2 Jedi on my server and I have gotten stiffed on my payment BOTH times! Never again will I track for a fricken Jedi... Never again.

I agree. I have seen many more Trackers and Master Rangers on StarSider than I ever have. I also get more requests to track things now than ever. As a Master Ranger I got more ?'s popped up over peoples heads than anything.

I dont track for any of the quests stuff either. When I did the Badge of Altruism(I think..rescuing farmers wife and daughter) I just stumbed across the moisture farmer while trying to tame a cupa. Its way more fun to me to wander around Tat looking and harvesting than just digging straight into tracking and waypoints found on the forums.

Once everyone gets their badge they will disappear.

New home of SWG Rangers!

If the Jedi (or other ie Hero Quests) come to me I ask them for about 100K cr an hour, first hour paid up front, they pay for buffs and the time to buff up if needed, and no questions asked. lol I simply tell them that I can make at least that farming faction points if I want so what is the incentive to lead them around?

This usually weeds out the "cheep" "young in attitude" etc from asking. The few that say "no problem at all, I understands time is money and your fun time" and I have even ended up not charging one because I had a blast.

One of the problems I have with Ranger, among other professions, is that there is no real benefit to specialization or longevity. Why become a Master Ranger, or a Master Image Designer, and stay with it for longer than a month?

I've mentioned this before, and I'm fond of grinding axes - I'd love to see time-dependent abilities/bonuses/schematics (i.e., you don't get a specific schematic unless you've been a Master Chef for at least 3 months) or a steeper, less linear curve for bonuses on profession-specific skills.

In theory, I wouldn't have any problem tracking for a jedi. I mean, that is what rangers do right? Help jedi however they can. However, most so-called "jedi" that I see aren't jedi at all as far as I'm concerened. So, I would have to know the person well before I would help them.

Have to agree, having "Tracker" as your title is, without doubt, cool

As Im only 3,1,4,0 at the moment I still have a long way to go, as I hunt solo unbuffed and unarmoured (except on Dathomir as I found my Ubese gives me enough time to hit Burst Run lol)

I love the profession, just wish I could master it, seems like I have been playing forever and all thats going up is CH and Rifleman (which is goingso I canget Master CH)

I dont mind dabblers, but I doubt I'll ever track for a Jedi. Let the Force guide them, I aint

So, all these camps grinding XP in the outskirsts of Coronet are for the Jedi Trials?

I was really surprised at he high number of players grinding Ranger now I left the job.

As the saying goes "Money talks and Bulls**t walks"if they pay me well enough, I'll take the job. The price all depends on what I am tracking and how rare the creature is. If someone is rude or doesn't pay, then I black list them and tell the other Rangers I know about him or her. I love the Ranger profession, I love being able to run almost as fast as a swoop in burstrun, I love being able to run up mountains and nills faster than vehicles, I like low crawling fast (it just looks funny). I enjoy the thrill of the hunt when the creature is rare. Ranger is just an all around fun profession. I mostly picked it up for my guild, so we coudl have soem fun guild hunts and really take advantage of what this game has to offer. dabblers do not bother me, if they wanna spend their skill points on it, fine by me, it just means they can't do something else. Ya want me to track for you, fine, be polite and not pushy, and PAY ME fo rmy time and effort. The Range rprofession isn't for the weak at heart or persons who have no patience. Fronteiring usually weeds them out. all in all, do what ya wanna do, track and hunt for who you want to, just don't mess up our professions good name, and ruin our economy in the process.
