The game use to be geared for a lower power level that players could obtain. After the CU it will (hopefully) be geared for the highest level of power players can obtain when grouped.
In the current system we was less gimped because everyone was overpowered, in the new system we will thus be hit much harder then the players with all thair skills on core combat professions.
I do hope that the relatively power picked up from a 2nd profession will only be like 20% of what the first one provided. But I fear that that will not be the case, it would simply be to unpopular with the 1337 crowd.
