The problem though is it's not a case of whether I like the model of car or not, it's whether the car is faulty, or to put it another way, Whether the car is running according to the marketing brief given by the company. If you would like to go with your analogy of a vacation imagine paying £300 to spend a week in the sun in a 'luxury' hotel only to arrive and find your hotel room is located over the noiseiest bar in town and still filthy from the last tenants.
Promises have been made, statements issued and nothing has been forthcoming. I am not just talking about the Ranger proffession here but SWG as a whole. This game is not the continuation of George Lucas' vision it should be. We are the end customers, it is our money which keeps this game running, and we are prepared to pay that money because we want to be a part of this in some small way. The Star Wars fanbase is huge. The sheer volume of novels, games, fan films andevents that go on is testament to the enjoyment people derive from it. Why then are we prepared to put up with people making a mockery of all that? The sheer amount of feedback that has come from those who play SWG is enough to create at least another entire game. The imagination, humour and time spent by people in this community to work to better this game is staggering. And for that we have watched our profession be taken down bit by bit until we are a shadow of what we were and what we could be.
I quote from the SWG Manual:
"Ranger: Adventurer, well suited to travel, tracking and defending others in combat"
Does that honestly describe what the Ranger profession is at the moment, in game? Not by any stretch of the imagination. We have enough issues defending ourselves, never mind anyone else. As for travel and tracking we all know the limitations there. So why are we putting up with this and sitting on our hands like school kids?
Ymegaar - Ranger. Heartbroken Star Wars fan.

Well, it's not a £300 vacation - it's $15 a month (for me, less than 1/2 hour's work). Maybe it's more if you buy your subscription a year at a time, but still nowhere near £300.

If you honestly think that the profession is a broken as you describe, then maybe it's time to move on. Some of you guys are clearly not happy with this profession - in fact, some of you seem outright miserable - and I don't understand why you don't just empower yourselves and move on. It's not like you can't come back. It's not like you can't post here anymore, and it's not like we won't welcome you back if the devs ever get back to us. What, in the end, have you really lost if you decide to drop ranger for a few weeks or even switch to another game? Maybe time, maybe friends - but you can still keep in touch with people, etc....

I keep reading all of these posts that invoke all of this strident rhetoric of protest and these metaphors of grand investment for something that in the grand scheme of things is really of no lasting consequence. I mean, it's not as if ranger getting fixed is going to help with hunger in the world or prevent genocide or help [insert your favorite political party] get back into office. It's not like the devs giving camo to the masses killed my dog, and it's not like holocron (who no longer works for SOE, btw) not keeping his promises caused some major bank to fail or even gas prices to goes up by $.25.
It's supposed to be fun - an escape, a vacation from all of the messed up stuff that goes on in RL - it's not supposed to make you guys this unhappy.
