Yup i know what you mean Fred. I have a master ranger/master rifle just out of plain stubourness and a BH/Carb/Scout hunter. Im finding it harder and harder to find a reason to do anything on my ranger apart from fart around with friends and go on the hunting trips with them.

The main issues with the game atm for me are:

  1. Ranger getting weaker and weaker and nothing being done about it

  2. The emphasis on jedi in this game

Ill give it 6 months and if none of these issues get addressed then i will seriously have to come up with a reason why im still playing this game when there are other game out and coming out that are ten times better.

Heck, I just wish they would let the Scout and Ranger trap lineswork again.

BUT NOOOOOO!

We are out of the scope of the CU, and we "will not be addressed until after the Smuggler Revamp," so for some reason the Devs think that addressing us = fixing our bugs?

Not so much as a "known issue" about it. That's what "bugs" me.

QFE - a more mature way to have resurrected the old thread would have been to do what Rancor has done here. Just copy and start a new topic. But, oh well, pointless forum histrionics for teh loose (again).

It's been locked and effectively 'archived'. It's still there to be quoted from but theres now no risk of a flame war, or even just a little 'enthusiastically exchanging points of view' resulting in the thread being deleted, which would be a bad thing.

The main text could, and should, be drawn up into the compilation thread and kept as a discussion there, yup?

didnt get a chance to read all the replies to this post, but here's what I did/saw:

Posted the current state of the game in contrast to what was posted. trying to relate the past promises with the future ones. Also brought the thread back up so it would be near the top if a Dev ever came around here. They could see what was posted long ago, and the there are a few who specifically remember that post, not just the general idea. Also having some optimism and hoping for the future. If they thought of it as a necro, the post would have been deleted and the thread put back into place on page whatever. however, again, being optimistic, im hoping that they saw the post and wanted to "hide the evidence". sorry in advance for any typos and bad grammer...just got done writing a huge paper and my fingers are tired.

edit: true, i could have, and should have posted a new thread and put a hyperlink in it, but i was really slightly ticked off and not thinking clearly when i did that (also a bit tired). again, sorry for getting that thread locked, but i still cant believe that they locked it...

While I can still have fun with ranger (I love the reactions I get when I pop an HTFB in front of people, and they freak out lol. So few people have seen one, half the time they think its some kind of new factional base rofl) I agree it needs a lot of work, and sooner rather than later. Bounter hunter is scheduled for a revamp ahead of Ranger. Why? It works fine, I know, I have it. I am MBH/MRanger, and MBH is fully functional. All its specials work, all its weapons work, none of its moves are over or under powered. True, if it is purely for jedi hunting, it can use a few tweaks here and there (No way can an MBH take on a high level jedi Solo, but he shouldnt be able to either. Jango fett, Best of them all, got spanked like a 2 year old by a master Jedi)

Smuggler? Oh ya, it needs a revamp, I agree with that. I know more than one smuggler that nearly quit several times as smuggler was nerfed to (beep) over and over by the devs. It needs new life. And somethihng else is getting a revamp before us as well, I just dont remember what it is. Thats three things that are being revamps. Figure three months per revamp (They could do it faster, but the devs never do anything fast if we need them to) so It might be next year before we even hear about a ranger revamp. Tiggs has publicly stated that the devs arent even looking at the ranger revamp yet, and there is not even a tentative date.

Will I be keeping Master ranger? Yes. But Frankly, I dont think SWG will be around much longer. More and more people are quitting, and once all these noobs realize how bad the game is, they will head for greener pastures too.

\#ff1490\ The Fuschia Family, Glowing at the universe, because its a dark place
The Pink Ranger, because Pink is the best color to hide in.
Camp Free, Camp strong, and dont let the wookiee near the HTFB's Barbeque.
The Nair cannon, the final solution to the shedding problem in the galaxy
If this game were any more screwed, it would come with a free hotel room.

If this was true why not delete the poster as has been done many times instead of blocking an entire section?

alright... i never actually posted in the old one, mostly cause we had so many other more up-to-date posts within amonth of that thread... we really did only use that as a reference for our "look how long we've been waiting" threads...

that being said... if they made these changes tomorrow... it would be too little... dabbling has been made harder, and ranger is doubly hard to dabble in... we need more than just this propsed change... it's old, and not up to date with the possibilities and demands of the CU...

we need to keep track of the thread for bargaining power, but other than that?...

It was me, I mentioned the "a" word. I was the gunman behind the grassy knoll! Thats right Albatross! Albatross! Folks at the end of the day we are the customers and they (soe)are or should be working for us. We pay them after all!If the Ranger proffesion was a car we'd all have driven it out of the showroom got a hundred yards down the road and had the engine fall out. Of course we'd go back to complain. Demand a replacement or money back. Only to be told that oh no, they're all like that. we can't get replacement parts for 2 years. There would be uproar. The car company would be heading through the courts faster than a greased hamster. So why are we sat here eating crumpets and tea and calmly discussing sweet nothings while soe must be rolling around on the floor laughing their arses off at us poor schmucks? (No, the "a" word!)

Well, the problem with your analogy is this: when you buy a car, it's very difficult to get into another car if you don't like it (unless, of course, you're rich). It's relatively easy to switch profs. in SWG. Sure, you lose a week of time, but it's nowhere near the investment that a car is.

I would suggest the following analogy:

This game is a vacation, and it has tons of rides. If you don't like the ride that you're on, then, well, it's your vacation, go get on another one. If you don't like any of the other rides, well, maybe its time to take a vacation from the vacation.

That's how I think of it at least....
