The thing I enjoy about beinga Ranger is visitingALL the points of interest even the one's that DON'T give the badges, mostly on foot, camouflaged, unarmored, unbuffed. Walking through a group of reds, not even blinking an eye, and coming out the otherside smelling like roses. Sure I don't do the most damage but hey, when it's just me and the beasties out there I know who's gonna be walking back to the Starport.

For me, it's the idea of what a ranger can be. Tour guide to the sightseers, forwardrecon for attack group, tracker of the rare, creature defense for for all of the above.
When I'm not in the game my Ranger roleplay's an interstellar tour guide. Picking up people from Star Tours and showing them around various interesting locations while making sure they get home in one piece. For this I'd use tracking to find the sights to see, I'd use camoflauge on the attendees to protect them from hostiles, I'd use hunting to catch lunch, and the camps to rest and relax under the scorching Tatooine Sun.
I'd like to someday meet a Jedi and fulfill long time desires to be Antarian, protecting my Jedi against the bounty hunters of the galaxy would be a ton of fun.
But it's really about the potential of Ranger. The long term goal of becomming that guy that strolls around Dathomir with no worries. That crawls through the brush right up to an opposing encampment without them knowing you're there. That's whats meant to be.

If I were to actually wake up in the Star Wars Galaxies, I would want to be a Ranger. Wandering all the planets in a quasi-safe way. Sleeping in a High Tech Field Base. I guess just being pretty self-sufficent. Not that in real life I'm a hunter but...I would rather hunt creatures than people.
Having Creature Handler is also a direct reflection on the person behind the pixels. I adore pets and have a datapad filled in real life.
Ehope's skills will never change (I know never say never) She is about as close to being me as possible.

There has been a saying floating around more and more, thatI take very much to heart..Ranger is not a profession, its a lifestyle. Correct me if I am wrong, /looks over shoulder to make sure JB is not standing behind me. But when I think of this great lifestyle, Its not so much... I am "A" Ranger, as I "AM" Ranger, If that makes any sence whatsoever

1) packing my bag and tight it firmly. Take the shutle, land in wild planets where I'll stay for 3-5 days, caress my pet and begin totrack creatures looking for good animal trophys I can sell to pay the brandy and the maintenance of myLiar in Tatooine, the placewhere I save my great big trophies and other curiosities.
2) meeting people in the wilderness asking for help.Camo them and/or build up a camp to rest and heal wounds.

I like the fact that whenever 2 or more Rangers show up anywhere it is a rare occurance.
It has been my experience that no matter the faction of the Rangers I've met... we all just sit and talk for a few minutes, so I guess the comraderie of a shared experience is another.

A freind of mine was on a small deployment and called me from Guam. "Hey man, they got SWG here, want me to pick it up for you? Plus the strategy guide is here too." I replied, "Yea bro, please do, I'll meet you at the terminal in Atsugi. Jo (my wife), just back from Thailand, and your GF is here too. Dinner will be waiting, you can help me set it up."
And so it starts. I read thru the guide real quick, down to 2 choices. BH and Ranger. Went thru 4 different toons trying out all the professions in a couple days. Got on the forums. BH broken, lot of complaining. Rangers, not broken, but not fixed, nice forums.
Start moving up the ladders. Scout, markmen, Ranger, some BH, CH being cool too. After getting snide remarks from the BH's at the time, and all the Rangers helping, this is who I want to be.
When I was going thru scout, and doing my camping, about 80% of everyone who ever stopped to say hi was a Ranger. I went on hunting trips, with the Master Ranger telling me, "Make alot of camps junior, its all you. I'll be here to train you." Sitting in the starport on my first trip to Dathomir, wondering if I should trek it alone. The Master Ranger that came up to me and said "Hunting Rancors here Hon, want to join us?" I couldn't make it there alone, but he came all the way back to get me, hooked me up with the camo, and we made our way to the group. The whole time we were walking, we would stop with him saying "Take a look at this, now listen...."
I know it doesn't sound like much to some, but that was before mounts and speeders.
The only regret I have with being a Master Ranger is that I deploy allot, so it is hard to remember names, and I can't remember who they were at the time. So I can not name them here to show the proper respect they deserve.
I like the people I call my friends, and they respect me for staying a Ranger this whole time. With that they think I am nuts also, but they support my choice.
There is an air of respect, I think, when you walk into a starport. Everybody jabbering away, but when they do talk to me, most of the time I am not Hon, I am Mr. Ranger.
I love the Great Ranger Meeting. I am not a Master Ranger on Wanderhome, I am actually working towards Fencer/Medic, but when we are all together there, they know I am a Master Ranger in my own Galaxy, and that's what matters.
I love the community. These forums. And that fact when I come into town, allmy old friendsin the Cantina talk to me, leaving everyone else saying "Who the hell was that?".
We are the wanderers, traders, hunters, poets, storytellers, and yarn spinnersof the Galaxies. Rarely seen with a crowd, but never alone.
