I'm sorry Calc. I made my post after I read a Jedi saying "Nice going Rangers. Great image you give yourself with that attitude". It stimulated a whole "pot calling kettle black" feeling in my mind. I'm sure you'll agree that such a reaction is fairly rational given the reputation and image of Jedi players

Yeah a lot of posts got made at the same time. Must be a lot of us monitoring the forum at any one time. I was responding to MSNil's message when it was the last one visible, by the time I was done posting, there were 8 messages or so in between.

There are very few things to do when you see something get fixed for someone else.

Reaction 1: Good for them.

Reaction 2: How did they do that?

Reaction 3: Whycan't we do that?

Being a man of science, I would rather ask questions, but questions without answers lead to discontent, and the only way to obtain knowledge is to seek it, but assuming what people think leads to "common sense" fallacies, therefore I felt the need to make a post.

Have I mentioned that I'm bi-polar?

Nice going Rangers. Great image you give yourself with that attitude

Just as you ask peoplenot to judge all Jedi by the people of poor quality on your forums, let me ask you to do the same. Personally, I'm glad for the Jedi. Honestly, the shadows thing was annoying, but it won't change Bounty Hunters from being able to track cloaked Jedi-- remember, tracking droids still report your location. Best bet for MBHs is to launch a droid at the start of a fight, in case the Jedi cloaks and runs.

Now I can vouch for some people who made jokes about the Jedi, such as the "how to track a Jedi post...it's about stereotypical jedi (notice the lower-case "j") not the Jedi (upper-case "J") of the game. There are some of each on the Jedi forums, and just like you don't like to be associated with the jedi, I'm not a huge fan of you lumping us all together and telling us "nice going" and talking about our attitudes. I think if Jedi and Rangers were reversed on the "amount of attention recieved" meter, you'd have a lot of Jedi with much worse attitudes talking about "another Ranger fix" (this is of course assuming people stayed in the profession they're in).

In the end, I think you need to realize that the original poster makes a lot of complaints about a great number of varied subjects, and this particular one happened to be about Jedi.

It's ok, and I apologize. I shouldnt have blamed the Ranger community as a whole either. But if I may I can clarify why I felt compelled to post a grumpy reply in the first place.

I do not playa Force Wielder myself, but I know a few, and I have something in common with them. People often confuse us as with the big mass.Beneath the surface there's five distinct sublines under that title, of which it's impossible to include more than 50% in your character. A mastered skillset is expensive enough to give your character a rather distinct mark, limiting you from accessing the rest of the "available" skillines. Three of theese sublines are currently broken enough to actually cripple the entire character if they are picked. As proper evidence of the situation;in the official masterlist Garva published, thoose 3 skillsets are the rarest masterized skillsets in the entire game.

It looks like this:

33 Force Healer
32 Force Enhancer
31 Force Wielder
30 Squad Leader
29 Politician
28 Ranger
- 4 professions between here

23 Force Defender
- 10 professions between here

12 Light Saber
- 11 professions here

Thoose three on top... only roleplayers master thoose, and thoose are often the most mature and friendly players you may find in any community. Theese are the players who do not pick abilities based on what's best at the moment, instead they pick skills based on how they see their character and what they want to play while überness and power does not concern them. Most of theese players never picked up Jedi to be an all-powerful king-of-the-hill pvp player. They just picked it up becouse of an old love with the movies with dreamsthey wanted to fulfill.

If you want to find your run-of-the-mill immature selfish pvp player, then you have to seek among Master Defenders (even if there are some roleplayers playing that discipline as well). Now, the majority of Master Force Wielder is broken enough to disallow them to defend themselves properly if attacked, and they are all attacked even if they want to pvp or not (not all Jedi are pvp players). Cloak is the only way they have to survive this situation, even if it have been broken for five months.

So to sum up, if someone want to take a swing against the Jedi, swing against the Defenders. They are plenty enough to stand up for themselves. But ironically; when a Ranger takes a swing against a Force Wielder, he strikes from above... against a very very rare minority, rarer than himself, who have suffered alot to play the profession they want to play rather than the profession that is best at the moment.

A ranger, if anyone, should understand how bad that is, and believe me, I react the very same when there's a Jedi on the Jedi forum who takes a swing against the Rangers. SoE have managed to get the game into a situation where only a few cookie-cutter templates make up for a majority of the players, while the rest are ignored, and I cannot stand players who blame people for playing what they want to play rather than one of thoose cookie-cutter templates.

Anyway. I am grinding Ranger now, so if I would blame"The Rangers", I would blame myself.

I have alot of fun in doing so even if trapping experience is a nightmare, much thanks to the rest of that masochist template ^_^

Ah well... welcome to the Ranger family! I hope this means you'll be adding all our missing stuff to that cool post you did pointing out all the broken things across all professions. For example, all your stuff on states forgot all the Scout & Ranger traps, which are where most of those states actually came from (and rather like many of the combat moves, don't seem to work all that well, or at all, these days).

To be fair, she wasn't aware of that detail at one point. I mentioned a number of specific traps when I noticed such a thread, and she did respond to that post. I expect the next time that states post comes up, you'll notice a couple of recent additions.

Awesome! I've got nothing but respect for MsNil, and tho I might not ALWAYS agree with everything she posts, I doubt everyone always agrees with everything *I* post too. I think she's definitely trying to fight the good fight and improve the game as a whole, and not just get her template to be "uber". I just came across her huge, impressive post of all those broken skills across professions yesterday, and hadn't had time to read through everything and all the replies. I hope this didn't come across as a dig or anything, I meant it in a nice way, more like a "welcome to our dysfunctional family, pull up a log, glad to see you'll have an appreciate of how broken we are" blah blah blather.

MsNil, please understand, the jedi that I refer to are the same ones you hold in disdain. There are many out there who do not wander around "in public" in padawan robes, or hang out in front of the starport entrance in Theed looking to impress other players. There are more than a few who are in this for the RP aspect (I like to think I'm one of them) and like any other group of players in this game, be they identified by faction, profession, or whatever, you've got your good and your bad. Not so many in Ranger, but gosh even CH has a bunch and Jedi, well....

Your post on the broken skills was quite informative, and I'll study it in great depth as I figure out what to do with my glowstick boy.

If anyone needs me, I'll be in my HTFB making schematics and waiting patiently for my wounds to heal over the next few hours. I did a bad thing in the jedi forums and need to sit quietly while they flame my post.

My memory is bad though, MsNil did you use to post in the dancer/image designerforums in great ages past? Can't remember if it was your name I saw all those months ago or not, but the post and informative style was similar. If it was or if it wasn't welcome to the small community of players who take professions to fit their playing style, not to fit into pvp. We are always happy to see new faces around the camp fire.

Camps will always be useful, in my opinion, cause only rangers and scouts canplace a home on Dathomir and Endor.
