If you want a temporary solution to make camps important until a better revamp, just get the devs to put a cap on the medical rating of droids (maybe 60 at best?), and link that rating directly to how strong buffs and wound healing are; if you want a good buff/heal, you either find a med center or a ranger, and if it's an emergency, you can pull out your little 15-second droid ...

I totally support this idea!

It would be great just to get the Doctors actually workingin the Medcenters instead of on the Starport steps!

Well, what are camps good for?

Healing & calling pets and speeders instantly. That's about it. Since almost everyone runs around fully buffed, and now with poison resistance camps are not usefull in that way. For a while you've been able to call pets and speeders with a 15-30 second delay. No need for the camp there either.

Let's face it, camps have fallen to the wayside and I don't think there is anyway of making them part of the game anymore. Don't get me wrong, I remember sitting around the campfire, healing, crafting traps with a few friends, trying to keep anyone from sitting in those 2 chairs outside the circle because it would teleport you to 0,0 on the map. Yeah, that was fun. Gave everyone a breather to regroup. That was fun. Now, camping is just a means to get to master without any real need.

I would go along with anything that would get camps useful in the game again. Plus the HTFB is cool!

Somewhat unrelated, but has anyone ever tried setting up a full-buff station just outside of coronet using their camps? (Getting a doctor, musician, and entertainer to come out there and form a small buffing-company or something. Friendly ranger greeting people and inviting them, and they can get their mind buffs while they wait in line for the doctor. They could get all their buffs in one place, and avoid the lag from the city at the same time.) Might be something useful to do with camps right now, if it works.

That's just crazy enough to work! I was originally going to say that no one will ever leave the starport area for buffs, BUT I forgot about the mind buffs. It might work well since they don't have to navigate the city...they just need to head south fo the starport.

In my discussions on the Corr forum, I had it pointed out to me that camps are not useless, there are just better alternatives to using camps.

1) if there are better alternatives to using camps, that effectively makes them useless....that's like sayingenergy dam isn't useless against a 100% energy resistant mob, because the same mob is only 90% resistant to kinetic dam.

2) how are they not useless.....healing...no way, can't compare at all to a doc with a med droid....instacall pets and vehicle...nope only usefullin combat, which you can't do anyway.....

3) camps ARE useless.....

Yup, I did this for along time with my ranger and my Doc/musician Alt.and a couple other entertainers and docs, straight to the point here is why.... Set up a camp go afk for the 30 min until you need to throw a new camp... sooooooo boring, just for a small cut? And for the most part your customers are only the friends of your doc, entertainer...

In effect this is what I did when I hosted camps for the DWB raid parties on my server. My combat template on that character is not fitting for the DWB, so I didn't go in, but I met the party outside the bunker and set up a camp for them. They used my camp to buff the party before they went in to maximize the buff time. I got payed a pretty nice fee for my time.
