Thread: The development team is all about old-school!

Man my post was so taken out of context. Thanks Serraphin. You and BE (who knows maybe shared accounts) have done more to hurt the Ranger community then you'll ever know. Guess what we know we're overlooked thanks for playing. Go play a jedi. They get lots of attention.
In EQ2 we dont have correspondents. The devs fix things very quickly there. But not having a player representive is something you miss. When you have an issue you dont have a person to present it to. Yes I know "Well its pointless to bring the stuff up". You know what? It makes me, and a heck of a lot of us, happy to know there is another player trying their hardest for us.
So if your not happy. And you feel a need to ruin and flame a nice thread. Please try the BH forum, the Jedi forum, the GCW forum, or any of the other profession forums and stop trying to anger those hear by choice. Heck if your really bored go to the scout forum and tell Paks how shes not working hard enough for the profession. That goes over well to.
If i wanted whiny children i'd go pinch my kids. I dont look for it in the ranger forum
QFE - what is with the resurgence of temper tantrums on the ranger aisle? Maybe they'll end next week when school starts again.

This bickering and criticising is really uncalled for. What will be accomplished by posting here that Calc's reign will be ineffectual?
The fact is that Calc didn't have control over whether he was picked. The devs picked him because they thought he was the best leexard for the job. It's completely unfair to blame Calc for getting the job. If you have a beef over selection, it's with the community relations team, not Calc.
And furthermore, the argument cannot be made that Calc should not have applied to give the other favorites a chance. There is no reason whatsoever to believe that if Calc were not picked X, Y, or Z would have been in his place. The devs work in mysterious ways, and it's not necessarily the case that the candidates would have ranked in the same order in the devs' eyes as they are ranked in the community's eyes.
I hate to break it to you, too, but the "new blood" thing can cut both ways. It's true that new blood is sometimes good for a profession when the profession corr is burnt out, and sometimes a different "spin" on the same issue will yield better results. On the other hand, there is also the issue of influence and respect. A new corr has to earn the respect and attention of the devs from scratch, and might fail, whereas an established corr that the devs willingly invited back into the program already has that respect. So new blood is not necessarily always better.
I was correspondent at the same time Calc was, and I have every confidence in his abilities. At no time did he unfaithfully represent the community or let an opportunity slide. You will be well-represented this time around.

Aww thanks! I just can't say away, so I broke down and floated this board... now you're stuck with me.
I was hoping to see Phenix or Drak get the position, but I don't doubt that Calc will try hard to make things better for the profession. Also, we don't have to waste any time ferreting out his scandalous secrets, since we're already familiar with them. You know the ones I mean.
Man, suddenly I feel all grizzled. I have a compulsion to gather 'round the newer Rangers, and talk at length about the halcyon days of Calc's first term, when we could hunt the fringes of the map unbuffed and unarmored. Yep, a 75k stack was a good hunt back then, and we weren't slaves to the mission terminal. Alla ranger needed to survive in those days was a bottle of brandy and some ahrisa, maybe a good stim B or two. And we avoided each other like the plague, staking out territories and hunting grounds (and having the good sense not to trespass), what with the negative harvest modifier for grouping and all. Hmph, kids today.
