Well lets see since most of the issues our professions have are the same ones as a year ago. Why would we need a new correspondent? Calc's top 5 issues are still on the dev forums and are still just as accurate now.

The issues have been the same even post CU for over 2 years. Why would be even need a correspondent, egos not withstanding?

Serraphin just stop it please, we do need a cor, no matter what you think and I for one am tired of the dead nuna you keep trying to beat.

The fact is we don't need a volunteer corr we need SOE to hire some employees that work at the site of the devs to take on this role.

Honestly, I'd rather have a player that wanted to do it than a SOE employee that is paid to do it. While the employee might get more direct access, they would care less about the profession. And, even if they do care, not all SOE employees can get all the information they need/want (just look at some of the stuff that has been forced past Tiggs and TH). I'd rather have SOE shell out the money on an extra Dev than on correspondents.

Wow. Congrats again Calc.

With all due respect as Calc is a proven commodity and much loved by the Ranger community, I am more than a little surprised at this...shocked actually. Draknev and I came up through Ranger together from day 1 of launch. I trained him to Master Ranger, and he is one of the kindest, most articulate people ever seen this side of a HTFB. He is also one of the most knowledgeable people regarding Rangers and the game as a whole I know.

I really think he orPhenix should have received a chance at this position.

That being said welcome back Calc. Hope you have your helmet for butting your head against a wall on, and some ear plugs to drown out the whiners. Oh and hide those haw*^%$#$ I saw you in the other day..........

While I would have loved the chance to do this, I'm happy just knowing that someone I respect as much as you would even put me in the same class as Draknev or Calc. Calc was a good corr who had his time cut short, and now he's back. He said it right-- he has prior knowledge of how the system works, which always goes far. It would take a new corr a few weeks to get up to speed on the procedures, etc. I probably would've spent an hour or two just futzing around with the ability to sticky threads.

As long as Calc does a good job, there's no problem. The person who I want as my corr is the person who will best get the job done (ie provide good information both ways). Would I have loved to get the opportunity to see if that person was me? Of course. But I know Calc is good at his job, so there's no real issue. The only time I will be upset is if the person who's our corr is doing a poor job. If there's somebody more qualified , then than person should be leading us. Right now, I think Calc has experience and he has a good attitude. That goes a long way.

But you know...if he starts doing badly. I say we impeach him. And leave him stranded on an island filled with nothing but H*tpants. That'llteach him. Or it'll make him happy. The sad this is I'm not sure which.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

My main concern is less the ramping up of a new person, but more the fresh ideas and outlook a different person would have. Phenix your ideas, as well as Draks have bordered on the amazing and I have a hard time seeing sometimes why that can't just implement them. Not only that but our community wel knows Calc's position on things. We are in wait and see mode, and nothing we can say or do will change it. I have a hard time with that and Calc knows this. I want the best for this profession and I think the opportunity for someone new to effect some change would be large.

The obvious upside as you mentioned is that Calc knows the ropes and yes he does a good job. I'm just having difficulty seeing what will change now.

Meh. You know I lub you. I just really wanted another Ranger to have a chance to shine. I didn't say you weren't entitled to your opinion, nor did I say you would be unable to do the job. I clearly stated you know the ropes and do a good job. Draknev and Phenix however have had to be passed over twice now, not to mention Nem0. They are great in their own way as well. They have just had the unfortunate luck to have to compete with first N'Raas and then you....twice.

Not everyone has the same outlook or opinion though, despite amount of time served. It could be conceivable that someone else may have a different perspective or outlook or even a different way of approaching the same matter. Just being pals with Tiggs doesn't mean that it's a guarantee that something will be heard differently. I have the utmost respect for you and what you accomplished in the past. As I stated though I would merely liked to have seen another well respected and articulate member of our community be recognized as well. I apologize if that sentiment came across as something else. I admit I am biased because I am fond of Drak and Phenix particularly but that should in no way diminish their contributions or ideas, nor their ability to serve in that roll, imho.

Its like having a pitcher of stale water on a hot day. It will get you by. But then one day you get a pitcher of cool spring water with a hint of mint. Its refreshing and somewhat energizing. And then you are given back the pitcher of stale water again.

THE SPRING WATER WAS OWEN. Try not to assume too much. OWEN was the refreshing water just as any new face to Corr would have been. Preferably Phenix. I don't have to agree with someone to think they can do a good job. But yes I can sure tell when the water is stale and choose not to drink of it.

Now thats the Calc I find refreshing but I prefer you on this side on the equation balancing out me, the forum and Corr just not as the Corr. You are more verbal and less diplomat that way
