Thread: My hopes for this game are gone.

Hopefully our sp will stay the same and we will get a revamp worthy of the investment.
I hate to say this, but cmon, Rangers are as likely to get a revamp in the next 2 years or less as I have of winning the lottery, becoming PM, and having it off with Angelina Jolie, in the same evening.
I guess my point is that if we say that WS got attention becuse they got some new schematics, the same could be said about us. It is totally wrong for Rangers to say that they have not seen any changes. No matter the logic is behind the following, we still got worked on: we got the group harvesting thing, we got CL from the CU, we got the Kash Camo kits, we got trapping and harvesting droids, etc. That adds up to a lot of changes (but admittedly litte functionality).

When they came out is actually very relevent. The timing of the Kash kit, which should have been released with the expanions, coincided with the announcement the artisans were getting camo kits. Maybe Im paranoid but i stand by the fact that its why the Kash kit exists not for us.
We got the CL from the CU after you, Brisc, JB, Owens all screamed bloody murder to get it. It wasnt given to us as much as forced out of SOE's hands. Same goes for the doc's who had to do the same thing to get a CL rating.
We have trapping and harvesting droids. I agree we did get those. But was that to help the scout/rangers or more a way for the DE's to make money in their revamp? I agree thats about the only thing we have gotten lately. And thats for scout not ranger.
Paks,
Sadly Im thinking your right. Lowering our point cost would just add more trackers. Its not a fix, its not really even a band aid.

Uhm, I beg to differ there

Rangers arent even close to being set up as full fleged tanks, the last thing we need is to take aggro on purpose.
"technically" /rescue isn't broken, it just can't functionbecause the /peace command was removed.
The player you are attempting to /rescue has to /peace out of combat before the creature will find you attractive...
OTOH, thanks to the new 'hate' system, if you're a rifleman, just plant a headshot on it, do more damage than your team mate and the critter will come running.

Its really time to pull our collective heads out of the sand and actually do something! What that something is I dont know, but it seems to me that screaming and throwing childish fits gets every other profession what they want while coming up with ideas just gets them stolen and ported over to the whiny professions.
I would have to say there are many professions that could be better than they are or they have many issues. CH ring a bell? auto storing bugs are back, pets just wandering around. How about DE? how much of a market is there for droids? The list can go on and on and on.
With the way the new combat system works, Ranger really does need to lose some skill points. It is now the only profession that requires mastery of a basic profession to obtain. With the added requirements on combat professions, it is harder to get skill mods and specials than before. Those skill mods and specials can make a huge difference.
There are so many things that could be done to help out the ranger community. I see no reason why they could not get offensive and defensive bonuses for fighting in wilderness areas, more PVE mods, traps that could work on humanoids, maybe even other players at master level, and so on.

For all these years of being calm, collected and reserved AND helpful, we have a profession which is the most broken in game, and its even worse now than at launch, where we were the most broken profession. Over the years EVERY profession has got SOME postive attention. Rangers however have had the field bioscience/tracking skill tree name change and every skill we have devalued or made totally redundant.

let me say agian, i'm not for acting like BH/Jedi community, but we need to be just a tad more pro-active

Now hold on, I dont mean to go that far, perhaps Live Aid style tactics as opposed to their Al Queda style ones!

Actually the Kash kits came well after the CURB Calc. They werent added content like the WS's got. They were given to us for two reasons. First was that we were all screaming for them and saying "Um excuse me?!". And realistically we probaly got them to fulfill our new role as camo makers for artisans because THEY not us didnt have the complete set.
When they came out is irrelevant.

I hope we don't get a SP reduction.
Funny thing is, while we bring that up a lot, I don't think we ever complain about it. We're all happy to spend the points--we just want some return.
If they do do a SP reduction, I hope it's like the ID one, where it's one point less per Ranger box, instead of dropping branches in Scout. I think we should still need all 8 branches.
We do not need a SP reduction. Most Rangers take great pride in the fact that they belong to a profession/community made up of likeminded, dedicated players. Part of that is the fact that the SP requirement for Ranger is so high that people who don't really care about Ranger as a profession are unlikely to put it in their template.

Specials and skill mods to make up for the SP investment can easily be put into Ranger now that we have +general speed and +general accuray, even ranged and melee can both be added since a Ranger is not going to be able to profit from both ranged and melee mods. Even a Novice Ranger can only master one melee or ranged elite profession and have novice in another one. In fact this speaks against reducing the SP requirement, since Rangers count both ranged and melee players, we need mods for both, reducing the SP cost could potentially lead to some unwanted "stacker" combinations, not so if the SP cost are maintained.
The most important thing for the Devs to remeber is the fact that we are just like Master Smuggler/Pistoleers or Master Squad Leaders/Master Carbineers and all the other Master Elite Combat+Master "Content" Profession. We want the same "bang for our buck" in combat, we just want it in a rangerish way, that's why we pick up Ranger.
What we need are the mods that other support professions get to justify the CL we are. Then, instead of /steadyaim, we want a working defense de-buff trap, instead of /stoppingshot, we want a working adhesive mesh trap... and on and on and on. That is what we should have now. This isn't something we should have to wait for a revamp to get.
The revamp should be allabout introducing the new camping proposals, rework tracking to actually be useful given the server/spawn mechanics, getting a ranger weapon(s) and/or a ranger special(s), new traps, a terrain negotiation overhaul etc.
Skill mods should go in now, I vote pub 18
