the only good thing about camo is u can give it to other people. Which i think is more important now that people aren't keeping scout for camps. And personaly i only fight critters, i dont like npcs or pvp. So i dont care if we are seen by them or not, after all isnt ranger supposed to be the best critter hunter proffesion.

Throw away camo

Give us mask scent bonuses

Let us apply mask scent to others. small because it works pretty good already, and i know nobody wants to make a scout's mask scent less effective. (can u imagine the uproar that would cause)

Add these to things to another tree, along with tn,

And give us a new tree

I'm just starting as a ranger and I made my first camo kit today, to try it out. Tatooine version. Spent about 1/2 an hour with maskscent on hunting the right type of animals to make the kit, finally did, put it on and was spotted within 5 minutes of putting on the camo kit. Went to town, healed up. Put on another camo kit, walked out of town and was spotted by the low lv critters hanging around the outside of town. I don't see any benefit to the camo kits and I won't be messing with them again. Perhaps when I gain Wayfaring 3 or 4 they'll work better but I'm half way up that skill tree now and they are not worth the skill point cost. My opinion, redesign the entire wayfaring tree, terrain negotiation is made obsolete with vechicles and mask scent works much better than camo kits.

Strange to see us so divided for a change

The following is based on personal experience, any claims that it doesn't work that way need to be supported with a link to a SOE source. But feel free to say your experiences have been different.

Put on camo, step on speeder drive pastCrazed Durni equals break

Put on maskscent, step on speeder drive past Crazed Durni equals break

Put on camo, step on speeder drive past Ancient Bull Rancor equals break

Put on maskscent, step on speeder drive past Ancient Bull Rancor equals break

Put on camo, walk or crawl past Ancient Bull Rancor equals Camo works

Put on maskscent, walk or crawl past Ancient Bull Rancor equalsMaskscent breaks sometimes

Put on camo, start pulling at lair equalssmall chance it breaks

Put on Maskscent, start pulling at lair equals broken before you kill your third creature

I find that Camo works, but thanks to the speeder it only works in relatively useless situations. I don't think Camo should be changed, I think we should be given situations where we can use it. 2 ways I can see for this.

1. Mission terminal in our camps.

Example: If I put up a camp in a remote part of dathomir and I can run missions in a 500-1000m radius I'd be inclined to walk camoed to avoid agro.

2. Give us the /track command

Example: If I can track (spawn) the creatures I wantat a range of500-1000m there will be a good chance some agro will be in between I'd be inclined to walk camoed to avoid agro.

At the moment I only use camo if Iwant to kill something which is right next to a lair of agroes, Maskscent is used all other times. Although the mount/vehicles are nice they've seem to have broken a lot in our profession.

I, as well, am in favor of keeping camo, just make it worth the resources we put into it.

there have been a lot of great ideas that i dont need to reiterate as most of you have seen them before

I think this aspect of the profession is presently working fantastically well. I use both Cammo and maskscent extensively and spend some time everyday harvesting a store of materials for use in emergency cammo kits for myself and my hunting partners.

I do think it might be a nice addition to grant a bonus to anyone grouped with a Master ranger though. Maybe grouping with a master ranger could provide a bonus to the maskscent skills of everyone in the group when it's led by a Ranger. Otherwise I don't think there's much to ask for here.

My suggestions :

  • Make CammoWork on ALL NPC's, With very few exceptions(Extreem level NamedNPC's like Vader...ect)

  • Add a resonable General Defensive bonus to Camo kits that will go Above the 125 cap, Harder to see=Harder to hit.

  • Remove the Camo Break...you don't loose the camo, You just get detected(identified) threw it.

  • Add a Special Ranger ONLY Ghuile suit that Enhances the effects of camo when worn. A benifit for actualy being a ranger.

  • Addsome Stealth aspects to the line for PvP interaction.

All these can be found in the outdoorsman proplsal.....do we sound like a broken record yet?

Personally, I like it in - but it needs to work on NPCs as well as /maskscent does on critters. Also, Mask Scent should be at +200 at master Ranger 9assuming it doesn't have a 125 cap)

Something I thought about is for the camo kits to include your maskscent bonus, afterall, there is (I belive) a 'scent mask' section in the camo kit. Basically when the check is being made for you to be detected, there's a check first against your maskscent skill (does the critter smell you, or does it just keep munching grass/last hapless traveller), and if that is seen through (not 'broken' as with maskscent, just seen through) then a check is made against your conceal stat (having smelt something funny, does the animal see a bush, or a bush with feet and a gun/sword?!). I also think camo should work against NPCs, but they should ignore the maskscent skill and be based purly on the conceal skill.

This should stop low level critters for detecting you, and make the scout maskscent tree actually have some use for conceal, while allowing conceal to actually be better than maskscent, as it should be. Thoughts?
