Actually I'm hearing that "Hate of the Month" is going to Riflemen for the bug that got in on the last publish and folks that can't figure out the diff from stackers holding a rifle to actual "riflemen only" types.

Ranger is not a profession. It's a lifestyle.

I think the problem with bhis not so much the bh profession itself, but rather with the little tykes who like to be 'uber' and go around 'pwning' other players. When they don't kill everything they see, they start whining and whining and whining 'I spent lots of skill points, I should be able to kill everyone and everything.'

'I don't understand, I was spamming eyeshot. He should have been dead before I logged on today!'

'The devs need to nerf <electricity-resistant creature>. They're obviously way too tough. I mean, even I couldn't kill it.'

Personally, I perfer the company of my death dealing company of myself (ranger+a little rifleman)*, and my master doctor/novice chef and master artisan pals. Master Ranger, Master Doctor, Master Artisan. Now that's a power trio!

*I also have CH 3322, but I want to dump it in favor of having my own skills. I have become too dependent on my pets. I can quit whenever I want. Really, I don't need them...

I am spending a lot of skill points, I would -like- melee defenses but since I dont have them I bought a nice set of high kinetic def ubese armor. In fact since I dont do PvP I sold off my composite armor.. wasn't worth having since very few animals have a ranged attack

In fact, my ranger mentor is always harping at me on tactics and skill to defeat stuff... and I have to say that he is very much right... if I am buffed, armored, etc I can do a lot of damage, and take down one or two of just about anything I might come up against.. but without those buffs I cant just stand there.. I have to -think- about whats going on.... that I think is the crux of those "uber-pwning" types that want the ultimate "template" they want to have it easy and just be able to stand there and not get hurt..

A side note, my mentor told me how coming back through town, unbuffed but overt he was jumped by the opposing faction and even though he was totally unprepared and they were, and they were buffed, they had to basically call in reinforcements since he wiped the floor with the first round attacking him.... he used tactics and intellegence as and they didn't... that says it all.
