well, I'll volunteer to let SOE pay me to be in charge of taking care of rangers' needs. I know it's a shot in the dark, but if they have nobody on staff to do it, why not hire me?

cheers-

The question about why the Jedi profession is getting so much attention has come up numerous times, with good reason. The best answer I've seen to this question (which I don't think has ever been answered by a developer or by ThunderHeart) is that Jedi is a hallmark profession. When most people think of Star Wars, they think of Jedi and space battles, so the developers are trying to placate the suits above them that want more players and the whiners that are only playing SWG to be a Jedi in an MMO and be as uber as possible.

Unfortunately, that means that the rest of us get pushed to the back burner and since the Ranger profession has been on the back burner all along, that means we're effectively getting shoved off the stove and onto the kitchen floor. After that, we'll likely be kicked under the stove because they still won't know that we're gone.

Having said all that, I agree with Nemo too. We apparently need to be much more aggressive, especially since our numbers are a good deal less than most professions, which is mostly because we're now so useless. As is looks right now, the Ranger profession won't be "revamped" until SWG 2 comes out. Considering the potential that we started out with, that is a damn shame to say the least.

Hehe, I almost posted a reply to your other thread that suggested you add your comment to this post. No need for that now!

I like your question also, but I think we need to be more aggressive with it. Here's my attempt at the question:

The Ranger community is tired of being completely ignored with respect to changes while all of our marketable abilities are being made useless by any number of changes to other systems. We realize that we will likely continue to be ingored for quite some time as the Jedi revamps, the Combat Balance, and the Smuggler and Squad Leader revamps have precedence. What expectations should we have that we will gain improved creature harvesting abilites, one of the few small changes thatalmost all Rangers would like to have, before StarWars Galaxies 2 comes out?

Or something to that effect, anyway.

In the last Ranger question, you mentioned that you liked the Ranger's Outdoorsman Proposal and pushed it whenever you could. Shortly after that, we received word from the Fan Fest that Rangers were still seen as a creature only profession (the same response that prompted the Outdoorsman Proposal in the first place). This came from the Dev supposedly responsible for Ranger and during the forum meant to represent Ranger issues (thisDev lateradmitted to not having seen the proposal). These two views contradict each other. What is the current Dev position on Ranger and why did the Dev responsible for answering Rangerquestions at the Fan Fest not even know about our challenge to the creature centric view?

I am for this. We deserve an answer.

Want to know what Question we should ask next?

Here it is, the SINGLE most important question that MAY wake the Devs up.

Ask the Devs:

"What Class Rangers should switch too for the next 6 months while we wait for them to fix Ranger."

Cause basically, we are all Rangers in name only and not skill.

I really want to know why, if dizzy wasn't meant to work on creatures, why one of our traps causes dizzy? Change it to knockdown or something if dizzy wasn't meant for critters, but don't make me spend points for something that doesn't work!

I'm for nemo's question as well.

As regards all the questions in the future its becoming pretty clear that questions about how a class currently works are better than questions about the future. Anything that lends itself to the answer of "will be sorted out in the combat balance" or "will be sorted out when time permits" should automatically be turned down as a question.

I agree that we should be using Nemo's question as our next one. We do deserve an answer after the contradicting info coming out now.

A slightly modified version of my previous question (updated because of a post by Scarin):

In the last Ranger question, you mentioned that you liked the Ranger's Outdoorsman Proposal and pushed it whenever you could. Shortly after that, we received word from the Fan Fest that Rangers were still seen as a creature only profession (the same response that prompted the Outdoorsman Proposal in the first place). This came from the Dev supposedly responsible for Ranger and during the forum meant to represent Ranger issues (thisDev lateradmitted to not having seen the proposal). These two views contradict each other. In addition, you answered the Brawler question about dizzy by saying that it is not intended to work on creatures. This seems extremely odd given that two traps (the Lecepanine Dart [obtained at Novice Scout] and the Sonic Pulse Trap [the higher of the twoRangertraps]) cause Dizzy. What is the current Dev position on Ranger and why did the Dev responsible for answering Rangerquestions at the Fan Fest not even know about our challenge to the creature centric view?

This isnt eactly a question but more of a request. The more i am reading from various forums the more it appears as though rangers are on the back burner. I began my character as aBE, now he is a Master BE, im thrilled. Hoping to make some awesome pets sounded like a fun thing to do, but, thats where the thrill ended. Like perhaps many other people who initially wanted to become rangers, I thought why not become aMasterRanger along with the Master BE, that way i can conceal myself while making DNA sampling on mobs like rancors a whole lot safer. Lol, i grinded through to MasterRanger only to find out that Mask Scent is equally good if notbetter. It didnt make sense to me that most people that are out fighiting would not already have mask scent or at least a majority of them would. I always thought, my mistake, that acquiring a similar skill Mask Scent vs. Conceal in a higher profession would be an improvement over the skill in the basic profession. Is there a flaw here in my thinking? My question/request for the Devs would be if they are not planning anythinguntil what may be the distant future to revamp our profession, could they at least throw us a bone. Specifically, I knowI'm being selfish here in my request, butthisquestion may also affect others as wellCan a mini Fix of some sort be incorporated for Concealto be somewhat of an improvement over Mask Scent as it relates toat least animals.I dont see that as an unreasonable request, maybe I'm wrong. For my character, theability to harvest more does not come into play, Having a Master BE, with a Master Ranger, left me with enough Skill points to getsome medical skills or get novice marksman with one box were my only two choices. It certainly would be nice i would think for a master ranger to have the ability i think in a group situation to be able to apply an improved version of mask scent to his/her group members. Don't know if this would be of little help to many people or just a few. Just throwing this out for a suggestion and hoping the devs will give us a little something instead of a lot nothing . Feel free to flame away.

Just come out and ask it.

"what do the devs see ranger gonig to be? Where do they want it to go? What kind of ranger do they want us to be? Is the Outdoorsman going in the correct direction as fas as they are concerned? Do they like it? What EXACTLY are we being given in the combat balance, so that as they put it "have a roll in combat and the GCW"? Don't tell us we just have to wait for CB, because if you don't at least know what you're going to do, this close to it, then you are waiting to the last minute and there is no way we will be brought into it"

There, blunt enough for you?

I concur with EV500, we need to ask the devs why the items he linked to have not been granted, if they ever will be granted, and if they are to be, how long it will take. We have to be concise and to the point, or else we simply give TH a chance to bog down the answer in meaningless hyperbole.
