Thread: What do you want to see in Publish 21?
most of all?
a fix to adhesive mesh so i can root things again.
Would be nice to get something out of this most boring aspect of scout, and uh ... I dunno.
It's not really rangery, it should really be patched into Scout.

Lets call it Pub 22 now. Since the new publish notes on Test Center dont include us. Well a fix for the grey con agro thing. But nothing special.
Knock knock
Who's there
Ranger
Ranger who?
Thats what I thought.
I'd really like some defensive mods.. but I know that ain't happening. Um, I don't know, maybe making creature-knowledge work again. Guess that's it as far as simple pleasures.
1) Fix adhesive mesh
2) Give WS a trap launcher & a dart gun schematic ( this could use the czerta gun skin)
3) Let our traps work against NPC's, kinda like CM debuffs
I mean, 2 years... even for slackers and students that's really going some...
I was thinking about a revamp/change to the point outlay this weekend. It's always stated that we can't get unlocked from the 4 branch requirement of the Scout tree, because the Ranger branches correspond directly to the Scout ones. But, as I stated elsewhere, if we could come up with two (new) branches, we could unlock ourselves from our requirement of Master Scout. (Yes, I know a lot of us LIKE it, but face it, if we could gain the SP from two Scout branches that we wouldn't need to train, that would give us the possibility of becoming more useful in the GCW/PvP realm. )
So, what I would like to see in Publish Whatever-the-next-one-is-after-this-one is a fix to the HTFB fence. IOW, the nice glowy electronic fencing should actually keep out critters. Even if you plop an HTFB down and a spawn of angry, sociopathic, red-conning Rancors were to spawn their lair just outside your camp, the fence should 'zap' them if they try to enter camp. Not enough damage to injure, but they simply should not be able to enter the HTFB perimeter. (Of course, no one should be able to attack from inside out, either.)
Now why, you might be asking, would I want this particular fix? OK, picture this. If we got that fixed to the point where it worked, and worked right, couldn't we turn one of our branches into animal repelling? Now, I know this is directly opposed to the way we're supposed to work, but, how about something like this.... (yes it was suggested elsewhere, but I'm just expanding a bit)
Novice Ranger gets +10 Animal Repellent.
Box 1 would get +20 Animal Repellent.
Create personal repellent kit. This might be a RAID can type of thing. A single use spray it on a critter and it causes fear to that one critter.
Box 2 would get another +20 to the skill
and a small cone of effect usefull in curing the oh-my-god-he-didn't-just-pull-the-middle-picket event.
Box 3, rinse repeat.
and a pick and choose can of raid, multi-use so you could fear all animals but one.
Box 4, rinse repear, and get the ability to craft a repellent device for a small house,
and Master Ranger gets to craft a fence for any size building.
OK, so now for some details. This isn't root. It's not snare. It's fear. Fear only works on critters, so it's not over powering us PvP. It's animal control. But it's not controlled animal control, if you will. I can fear a critter, which means it doesn't go after me, that doesn't mean it won't go after you. Of course, once the fear breaks, I'm now at the top of the hate list.
The fence is what I was really getting to. Imagine being able to craft a non-permanent fence. We could sell them to players. They're not made by anyone else, so no stepping on toes. They don't keep out NPCs, just animals. They would cause lairs to not spawn within protected buildings, and if the lair spawns just outside the protected building, then the animals can't enter the building.
Code would need to be written to cause the fence to drop as soon as the first person within takes an overt act, like shooting. (Can you shoot an animal in a building?)
What do we think?
