Thread: ranger city on naritus.

I had no idea rangers were so gutter-minded. Anyhow, thereal fun is about to begin--creating content for ourselves. One thing I think we need to capitalize on is our mystique. I think that other Naritus rangers will want to join us after we get rolling. Based on a semi-related conversation I had with Cryos a couple weeks ago, I think it would be cool if, once word of Antaria starts to get around, we come up with quests/missions for other rangers to perform if they want to know where exactly Antaria is. But before that even, we need todevise a role for ourselves within Naritus' unique political structure. We have rangers from all three factions--what's ourreason for buildingthis secret outpost where we can all convene? Whatcommon purpose would drive rangers who are political/ideological enemies to band together? Do we answer to anyone but ourselves? Do we see ourselves as being 'above' the everyday GCW? Intel gatherers? If so, again, for what purpose? Is our goal to observe jedi, warning some when danger is near and exposing others we feel to be a threat? Or is hunting together our only bond?
Just some things to think about. This has the potential to become something really cool, and redefine what it means to be a ranger, at least on Naritus.

I also have a really cool idea for a scavenger hunt ( I tried it out using the scavenger hunt droid event from the hotel in theed, its really fun ) that is collecting all types of foragables, eggs, milk, fish ,crusteaceans, mullosks and the plethora of ground forage items. I just need to come up with a decent prize....
This could be the training of new Scouts/Rangers.
As For Al's comments. Here's my proposal of what we as Anatarian Rangers should do. Well I always thought that since Anatarian Rangers were the helpers of the Jedi, now the Jedi are gone (well in theory anyways), and we have taken it upon ourselves to tend to the Force as best we can until The Jedi Return. We are big game hunters, but we respect and appreciate the great power the force has over all of us. We all know and respect the power of the force and need to make sure that it gets the respect it deserves until the Jedi can return and properly use it again. In order to do this we must infiltrate all forms of government and all orginizations.
In this we will help Jedi. We have no alliegence to Jedi or the Dark Side, our allegiance lies to the people who properly respect the great power of the force. We will help Dark and Light Jedi, as long as they show the force the proper respect it deserves. The Jedi who exploit the Force shall be our enemies, and the Jedi who respect the force shall be our allies. ((i.e uber l33t jedi will be our enemies, and the jedi who actually play the character in a semi-reasonable way will be our allies))
I know this is more of a rebel-minded philosophy, so if anyone can come up with something a little more neutral i would be game, but I think the main Goal of Anatarian Rangers is to tend to the force. When we go out hunting Krayt's it's to aquire Krayt Pearls and keep them Rare. When we hunt other big game it's because too much of a powerful animal is a threat to the balance of the force.
These are my ideas, on what it means to be a citizen of Anataria
I think we've got some really motivated and creative rangers in Antaria and I can't wait to see what good stuff is going to come of it.
I'm starting a Rangery event soon on the server and I'd love to see Antarians take the cake - that's right I foraged a wedding cake and it's the prize - ok, just pullin' your leg.
Still, soooo many ideas
hah....i had an entire post written out only to have internet explorer eat it. *shakefist*
and i had no idea this thread would go in so many different directions.
poor axkva.... (though that sounds more like a female klingon name then a nightsister one....heathen!)
so first i'll send out an official announcement to our citizens before i attempt reconstructing my post....those of you who dropped a house this weekend in antaria, please visit your house again as soon as possible. we dropped the city hall last night and we need ten 'official' citizens (which, i guess, doesn't count the ten houses in the immediate vicinity with declared status on them) in order to keep our city and the city hall. once you've entered your house, please go to the city hall and vote in the mayoral race. if you're able to vote, this confirms you're a citizen. if you're not able to vote, then mass panic must ensue as something went wrong somewhere. i'll try to make myself available today to kindly remind people to do this. ![]()

I don't think we're antarian rangers. When I suggested the name for our outpost, it was only because 'Antaria' was immediately recognizable as being rangery. I figured since we're all from such different backgrounds/persuasions, we'd have more of a 'remnants of the antarian rangers' approach, maybe supporting some of their tenets but ultimately a fractured version of them at best. Post-apocalyptic, like. However... if that avenue leads to something interesting, I'm all for it.

that is correct. despite the name of the city, which al came up with, i didn't really have any intentions of making us into antarian rangers. mainly because the antarian rangers are big on helping the jedi (i thought you explained that very well, yoss), and from a roleplaying standpoint (pshaw....and because most of them are so insanely annoying to me personally), i don't want to help them out, nor do i even want them in existence, but that's another debate entirely.
i do, however, love all the other aspects they stand for, and i wholeheartedly agree wtih al's suggestion of 'remnants' in that we focus more on the other aspects of the antarian rangers....that being helping each other out, hunting together, pooling resources, etc. etc. we already have suggestions for a communtiy crafting center as well as a community factory (cryos is very gung-ho for these things). cryos has also talked about setting up a vendor selling discounted ranger items such as camo kits, camps, traps, etc.to citizens of the city. and al and i havethe creature recycler we completed a few months back that we need to, somehow, figure out how to share with everyone. all of this will come in time. ![]()
i love the idea of the city being a base of operations for rangers on naritus. now that we have enough people for at least outpost status, anyone who has at least novice ranger can drop a house here (just contact me). i even thought it would be neat if we could have some kind of ceremony put together for when someone achieves master ranger. i know there was a thread somewhere here many, many moons ago about some kind of master ranger ceremony, which i thought was a great idea and something i'd like to implement into the city.
i know there was more to my other post then this, but i can't seem to drag it out of my brain, so i'll leave it at this. again, i'll ask current citizens to enter their homes as soon as possible and vote in the elections so we don't lose our city hall and have to try to attempt this endeavor again. thanks again to all of you for helping this happen. i was thisclose to quitting the game a few weeks back and even had all of my most-prized belongings in a backpack to drop into al's house before canceling my account, but this has given me new hope. thanks again. ![]()

I've never had any problem with the idea of working against jedi. Should we ever get our own 'cloak' ability, I would love to wander kashyyyk looking for jedi who think they're alone, and alerting one of the few BH's that I like to their presence, making sure to drop my camo as the DB is dealt so they know exactly why they died on their 'safe' planet. We need radar invisibility! And we citizens of Antaria need a uniform. Something stylish and slightly ominous.

I don't have a problem working against Jedi either.
Idea Alert: Maybe we are a band of Rangers who think the Jedi betrayed and used our Anatarian Ranger predecessors, so we decided to hurt and hunt Jedi Whenever possible as a payback for their betrayal. We decided to name our town after those brave rangers who were betrayed
As for a Uni- Well I think Camo Pants are a given, there's some very good tailors in Kor Sperra, maybe I can get one to Design us something, or we can ask them to make us something.
I also think the garment whose name i will not utter should be banned from town, punishable by expulsion from the city

Far too light a punishment my friend.
I've got some good ranger clothing made up and I know Tiino is all over making ranger clothes.
