yes, i was also thinking this exact same thing! i'm running a 1 1/2 year old laptop with a 64mb intergrated graphics(using shared memory /yuck) that i cannot upgrade.......... i dont need more graphic intensive crap on my screen!!!!
Relax, it would have to be a Higher resolution texture or add polygons to change your performance. This isn't going to touch you. Some thing this small is very limited in how much the size of the texture can change so that's not to be worried about, and its all flat, so its not going to change a thing for you. The new effects on the other hand might.

I too think they are a distraction.
Why did they change them anyway? Did any of you hear others complain about the icons before?

I posted in the CU discussion thread (buried among a few hundred posts), and noticed the majority seem to not like the new icons.. most of the other opinions were similar to "I'll get used to it" and only a small amount of people liked it.
My suggestion is to let us choose between the two. I really doubt we'll see a change of artwork, but it would be nice if we could select the "old" icons instead.
If nothing else, they should give us back the old icons so we can make our own custom /macro for each command/special and assign the icons we like. (Unfortunately, there's only a small amount of original icons left, but there's probably enough to have at least a full toolbar of the old icons, assuming they aren't removed before release)

Hmm.
There's a few I like, and a lot I hate.
Mostly it's just that they do feel more "cartoony" than "starwarsy".
On the other hand, it doesn't look like Aim and Attack and the two headshots (etc, etc...) will have identical icons anymore, so that's a good thing.
I kinda hope they'll keep the old icons as well and let you pick which ones you want to use (or better yet, keep all icons, and let you mix and match using whatever icon you want...)
