I believe this specific tree is not intended for Scouts or Rangers. The abilities gained are minimal for the effort put into it. However, look at this from another perspective and it may make some sense to you.

Look at from the perspective of someone who's got Master Brawler, Master TKA, Master Fencer, and whatever else. Not a whole lot of SP's left to spend on other skills. In fact, probably not even enough to get the Novice Scout branch. However, FS skills only cost 1SP each at a cost of a large FS exp investment. So a heavy combat profession can get some minor scouting skill for only a few SP's and a lot of time, where they wouldn't have had the option to gain any scouting skills without dropping some combat skills to free up enough SP's.

On the flip-side, the FS trees gives us Rangers the option to gain some extra combat abilities without freeing up the necessary SP's to get Novice Brawler, or Marksman

As this whole line is a complete joke, even for master scouts, this argument here is not valid. For one thing you can't use any of the bonuses with out at least the bare minimum of the ability like novice scout. You can't trap or camp without at least novice scout, even if you have a +15 trapping or camping skill. And to even get enough FS xp to go up in that line you need to gain scouting, trapping and wilderness survival xp. So thus to even go up in that FS line you need at least novice scout.

But as I said, it's a total joke, even for someone with some scout. Forget about master scout or ranger even. I for sure NEVER plan on getting that one. I do want to get the Persuasion line. From reading its description it might hide your faction with NPC, so kind of augmenting camo kits vs NPC. We'll see.

Of course the truely funny part is the camping bonus. I could be a novice scout, and get a +100 camping, and it still wounldn't mean crap. Who the hell uses camps anymore beyond for wedding pavilions.

Do I think that the +5 to foraging in the survival line will give me any benefits? Uh. No. Do I believe it adds to my gameplay experience? Heck yes.

The Village *is* neat. I got in there not long after server up today, before it was full of people, and it was more spooky that way. Somehow, the villagers crying out, "It was the Sith!" "The one was a wizard!" is much more effective when you're not part of a crowd of 40 people ignorning them.

But my character would look at that trainer and go, "Sorry--I did what for what?"

She's wondering if she can trade in her +5 camping for more storage space. Maybe a nice cosmopolitan pad somewhere.

I'm unhappy I cannot convert scout, trapping, and wilderness XP into something I can use to get more bonuses in such things.

None of the fs bonuses aren't significant?? the combat bit has the possilibity of adding 12(!!!) to attack speed, which is a iffing big deal imho. What are people paying creditswise to have +12 speed to any given weapon?

The FS bonuses "rangers" receive is a kick in the face, but I'm rather beginning to suspect the devs think we enjoy the abuse.

I'm starting to think that the devs are trying to see how much abuse/neglect Rangers will take before we all snap and start cannibalizing each other.

I didn't mind that until I realized we can still convert them into everything else, but to *nothing* in reflexes. I understand this is to avoid "stacking," so I don't really mind, but we can still "stack" in Senses, if I remember right. So basically it's just stopping us from getting our four useless (and two semi-useful) +5 mods that much more quickly.

This is true but remember that you need 6 lines to unlock. If both your weapon xp AND your scout xp all went into the four lines of reflexes, and you wanted one of the senses lines you would have to give up more skill points in order to pick up Medic or Artisan to do so. Of course I will eat my words if I find out you have to pick up these skills in order to do the quests anyway. I purposely haven't looked at that. I dont want to know . B

But even having to pick up novice medic or artisan is better than having to pick up novice medic or artisan and then grind out a lines worth of medic or artisan xp.
