I would also like a realtime update. be able to pick a target out of the track menu and have another box pop up (about the size of the buff display) and give me realtime updates to distance and direction. And this makes scense with the "fictional act of tracking." Trackers find the right tracks and just follow them. They dont find them, run off inthe rightdirectionthey lead, stop, andlook for the tracks again.

This would be GREAT!

How about this? Might be a bit hard for the SOE Dev's to implement though.

Area track brings up an 500m radius overlay map showing colored dots for each type of trackee. Placing your mouse over a dot brings up a little display with info about it. Dots move around in real time and appear/disapear as you move in and out of range. Clicking a dot changes it's color for easy tracking. A good ranger is always aware of everything in the area.

This was a WISH list right?

I like the previous posts idea about the display but it does sound hard to implement. Great idea though.

My only complaint about this feature in its current state is that its buggy. It requires the creatures to have already spawned in order to work. When I first went Ranger I was all set to use this skill to aide in hunting Krayts - no such luck.

So my suggestion is to fix what we already have in place, or at least 'tweak' it so it works as intended.

Agreed Calc. I actually think something similar to what the existing forage animation is, would be more appropriate.

Am I the only one who remembers back when this WAS the animation? The problem with it was that it locked you in place for 5 seconds, which can be insta-death for a Ranger if he gets attacked while tracking =)

Yep, I remember that animation...

I dont think that the animation really adds or subtracts to the skill itself

these are my top issues with tracking

  • fix the blind spot in tracking
  • Tracking in mountainous terrain reads the vertical land as horizontal limiting tracking range.
  • Ghost tracks.
  • Include the /track command
  • Sortable Menus
  • Dynamic tracking ability
  • Migration pattern (spawn points) information available
  • Commands: /areatrack players, /areatrack animals, /areatrack people

Im not really a fan of /areatrack while moving, although it would be convenient, I really dont think that the ranger would be able to tell what was 5 meters in front of him with all the dust blown up from the speeder, and there is no way to tell if the poodoo on the ground is from a Bantha Matriarch, or a Feral Bantha without getting up close and personal.

If they allow us to track mounted, cool...I just dont think we have a good justification for asking for it other than convenience.

    1) given the current paucity of wild spawns on the "settled" planets ( those w/ player cities), I think it's important that areaTrack at least give some sort of bonus to the chance of wild spawns when it is used.

    2) the Track skill that was promised long ago would just be so cool...I dont understand why people say it shouldnt include Krayts/Goraxes and what-not...that would be the best part!

ok, for the sake of balance, maybe forced spawns could be limited to once per 2 hours for the uber-loot mobs...

Dunno if this applies, but I definitely would like to see /track implemented as soon as possible. I think it will be a great ability, and be very useful for CHs to find lairs (and therefore babies) of certain creatures.

I'd love to be able to track players even after they make themselves unsearchable in the community page. If I'm defending a faction, I'd love to be able to foresee the incoming raid by tracking them. Otherwise, most of them are unsearchable and the skill is then rendered moot.

Haven't I replied this topic yet? **scracth**

    1. Sroting results by name, direction, distance (as in markets terminal you sort columns).Very easy and helpfulfeature I think.

    2. Search an specific type of craetur (A Banthas track should show all classes of Banthas).

    3. Track while mount and stopped. Being a short Bothan, I sure have better vision when I am on my carion pet.

    Responding to the scanner idea;

If the scanner worked like a survey tool and was usable only by Rangers to expand the range, it could be very cool. Higher skill, greater range upto a max of 1000m. It shouldn't be specific beyond a species type, however. A scanner wouldn't know one gurk from another. Make it craftable by Artisans because it is an electronic device or even as droid module.

Otherwise, I agree, the results when tracking desperately need to be in some kind of order; alphabetical, distance, anything! And if it shows up when you track, it needs to be on the map when you get there. The randomness of the spawning to often defeats the tracking ability either not showing you what's going to come out of lair when you see it or by showing you group that vanishes by the time you reach the location.

Longer range, Fewer bugs(Should be no bugs, but i'll accept fewer ), /track.....Being able to Specify what you want to find....ECT.....The Outdoorsmen Proposal....
