Thread: Focus for Top 5 List: /areatrack
range is fine for me, I prefer to walk anyway, so tracking a group of animals 400m away isn't too close for comfort.
tracking lairs sounds nice, but how in the world do you track a stationary object? Not very justifiable IMHO.
Top Issue:
- Tracking specific creatures (non-ubers only of course), giving a certain chance of spawning that type of critter and handing you the line 'some <animal> tracks appear to go <direction>, they're very fresh/recent/somewhat aged/very faint. (rather then 'N 326m') There is a timer on the chance of spawning the creature of say 10 mins. Otherwise you might retry over and over to get it. That still makes it possible for a Ranger to track for a carrion spat 10 times and then kill em all for massive amounts of avian meat, but that's for TC to solve ![]()
This is from Ranger Calc, not Corr Calc:
Not a heavy issue, but I always thought the animation was silly. I would prefer a squat and look at the ground type of animation to the current one. Otherwise, you guys have covered my comments thoroughly

Why not have us pull out one of those tracking tools that Han and Luke were using on Hoth. Or, maybe, let us get a 1k range by using a tool like that. That would be cool.

- See the outdoorsman proposal for /areatrack and /track
- Improve the tracking interface, sortable columns and ad the ability to filter
The most important issue is that the /areatrack command should force the spawn of lairs in the vicinity and show lairs which haven't spawned any creatures yet. On plantets like Lok you can travel for eternaty and use areatrack every 100m or so, yet not find a single creature.
What i would love even more would be if the areatrack command could be controlled more effectively by chat commands. (For example you type /areatrack animal and you get the list for all animals around you without haveing to click that annoying selctionbox)
An other function that i would love to see is the abiltiy to track specific creatures. Should i for example want to find a Plodding Falumpaset then all i'd have to enter was /track plodding_falumpaset and the Character would start looking for track of such a creature. Once you get in the (512 or 1024m) range of such a creature you then would get a message that guides you to the creature.
just my 0.02 €
1)Ability to sort by direction/range/alphabetically…
2)Ability to select creature/npc/player and have WP activated (albeit where they where when you /areatracked)

1. Increase range.
2. Find spawns that are not visible yet (as in spawns that only show up when you get close to them).
THose are my top issues as well
Same here!
Here here
And be able to track while on a vehicle when stopped.
and speed up the time it takes and fix the interface to be more friendly
Yep,
The higher level the faster you track.
And let us track while mounted and stopped.
However, if rangers are to be master creature hunters; make /TrackLair our Master level special ability - to spawn the lair of a specified (non-rare) creature type appropriate
to the planet.
- Put a 10-15 timer on use of this ability
- No rare creature spawns
- Level cap on level of critters than can be spawned (high level critters on high level planets obviously though)
Something similar to this was proposed by the Devs back in 2003.
yea the range could be a little better but that doesn't matter to me. what i really want is to be able to track from my swoop(after all im only maybe 1 foot more off the ground, and the animation doesnt even have us looking at the ground). Im tired of having to get on and off my swoop every 30 seconds to track again.
I would also like a realtime update. be able to pick a target out of the track menu and have another box pop up (about the size of the buff display) and give me realtime updates to distance and direction. And this makes scense with the "fictional act of tracking." Trackers find the right tracks and just follow them. They dont find them, run off inthe rightdirectionthey lead, stop, andlook for the tracks again.
