Ok all this talk about the dwb, as a ranger I have went several rooms into the dwb without aggro. I use rescue in there and for taking down bases (again protecting the slicers as there working out there puzzles), its used to protect jedi and docs as well as anyother character that needs help. Out in the field rescue also helps draw heat away from non combat types and combat types that need help, even if its a /rescue /burstrun it can still draw mobs away from the fight to help others concentrate on the task at hand. Saying /rescue is worthless or a toy for griefing BH shows me that you don't really know what a ranger is. I amtotal non grind ranger, it took me almost a year to master, in that time i have been able to use all the skills and find out which i liked instead of just using the highest level, and i think /rescue if used right is one of the defining skills of ranger it allows protection of those that venture out into the wilderness with us and allows for more stragetic combat and i think alot more fun.

Sadly, Rescue might be taken away if people began to "kill-steal" by using it to grief other players. I will delete this part tommorrow, since this might be a good escuse for the Devs to just take it away from us before our Revamp even occurs.....I use rescue to help people who have taken more than they could in combat. Either to save them from a death blow, or right before they are incapped. I also use it to help people grind their combat xp, because if they are not being attacked then they have a much higher advantage by just attacking the creatures as I address them one by one.
The problem is that, for your playstyle and in your experience /rescue has been useful.
Others have used it, some of us tried using it a lot and even tried making sure that the people we hunt with actually understand what's going on, and found it less useful.
Once people have decided that, for them, it is of little or no value, they are not going to be persuaded otherwise. You'll meet the same with doc/medics who think that /drag is pretty pointless as it takes so ling to get a patient away from trouble that you're as well standing 6m away from them and hitting them full of stims till they get the chance to run... and others who will drag a player 100's of metres away from aggro mobs.
I stopped using /rescue as I tend to work unarmoured and unbuffed and, if something is chewing on a team mate that they can't handle, chances are it'll knock me into the ground with one look. I always understood that you need to get the target to /peace out of combat, and I'm not 100% sure that you're not actually drawing the aggro for reasons other than /rescue when it's working and the victim is either unaware of your /rescue attempt or hasn't peaced out.
More than happy to be proven wrong tho.
(aiui, the requirement to /peace was to prevent griefing by evil ranger types 'stealing' somebody elses target

Lol, I love rescue and use it frequently with my close circle of friends when we are out taking down the big stuff like krayts and such. It also works great if I am hide/bone hunting in a 2 person group with my BH friend and he gets surrounded by all those medium critters. Just rescue him and they all come to me, he then pulls out his LLC and does a few lighting cone shots and they all die
As a TKA, I am tanking the krayt anyway and typically keeping it on me using taunt. If any of my group are having problems, say the mob decides to chase the rifleman etc, i'll use rescue to get the mob back to me. I have a tell macro set up that informs the playr to hit peace. In my experience, even if the rescuee doesn't hit peace, if the rescue check passes the mob comes to me, hitting peace just lets them get right out of combat and heal up.
I am novice medic as well, many times I have rescued someone as they get incapped but before db and then I can heal them up while I tank and we can continue and they don't have to pay a visit to the cloner.
I agree that rescue is not so good with strangers, I have rescued people who looked in real trouble as I passed by, i.e. they have virtually no health left etc and are fighting something meaty only to get hate tells afterwards about how I was kill stealing etc, oh well

For the record, I made, what I thought was a strong case, in the Corr or CU forums..I can't remember which, when we were told we weren't a combat profession. After pointing out that Traps initiate combat, rescue draws agro abd even maskscent draws critter's attention to us (the have to make a check on us when we walk by, if we fail that test, then we get agroed). Shortly after that, the response was changed to 'you aren't within the scope..."

Here's the "BH friend", seen from another persons view it realy is a god's gift when we're collecting bones/hides etc. As rescue is a great ability to combine with a melee proffesion, i currently have a full rangedtemplate and Witty takes the role as a tanker alot. It is a great combination i must say, if she wasn't there i would have died alot more often
I even remember her Tanking a Super Battle Droid (300k ham) while i was at a distance giving it heavy hits with my Light Lightning Cannon while i was unbuffed even. You can not wish for anyone better in your group then a Ranger/Melee, just lets see how it works after the CU.

I hope the devs change the /rescue command in the CU.
My idea is that is spams spatial with " Ranger <name> needsrescue as they are been killed by nunas".
But seriously this command will be pointless in the CU till our health and combat lvl concerns aredealt with first.

Actually, that is a good point. We (Owen) should use this in our (Owen's) conversations with the Devs
