I'm for the hunter type. I don't wont to be part of the nerf this and that community. I fear it will happen if we get too good in PvP. So I'd rather be "uber uber" in PvE .

I want "uber" in PvE and comptent in PvP. Why? Antarian Rangers. Are we even "uber" in PvE, let alone PvP? No. Buffs and armor helps, but how long will that last?

ok somehow that posted before i was ready so I'll continue here.

2 As rangers we should be able to solo craetures that others can't. This needs to reflect our ability to use the enviornment nearly as good as our quarry and our trapping ability.

3. I don't want to be part of the nerf-fest as was stated in someone else's post. PvP is only really feasible if you're template stacked for it. Master ranger makes that unfeasible.

4. We should be the absolute best by far at aquiring creature resources. Improve areatrack against creatures.

I'll take hunter anyday.

1. I want ranger only trophies. Let the crafters make the base for it or something, but if I kill something I want to be able to put it's head on the wall.

Yeah id love trophies also. But i think we should be able to craft the whole thing not just the final piece. We may need resources that others can provide to create interdependancies however we have 3 out of 4 lines in our elite skill tree (Camps, traps and camo kits) that give us crafting ability so we are basically semi-crafters. There is no reason why we shouldnt be able to craft the whole thing.

just wanted to try to keep the crafters in the loop. They make the wooden plaque or whatever, and we stick the animal's head(which we would be able to take like meat or whatever) and combine the 2. Then drop it in your house/guild hall.

I don't understand the PvE and PvP Split. Why can't we just have skills that are useful in both - why do they have to be one or the other?

Previously: Master Ranger/Master Fencer
Now: Master Tailor/Merchant/Commando

Yeah not bad idea. Maybe buying the resources is enough dependancy, or maybe we just craft a tool that enables us to target the corpse and then it creates the trophy?

I personally dont want ranger to be a fotm, and that our skills lead to excellence in PvE. Can you imagine all the weirdos and dumb-azzes that would start posting?

And this would be different than now, how?

IMHO I see one small problem. We Master Rangers have one of the largest skill point investments in the game. If we get the profession close to justified in the skill point department we would end up as a FOTM. I just don't see much of a way around it. I think that if many of our skills are tactic based and not /RangerSpecialUber1;/UiAction Repeat; we might get a little lucky on the flood of new people to the profession and to the forums. But we are a smart andwell thought out group, whatever we end up getting (and I think GreenMarine will have a blast doing our profession) we are going to end up with a darn nice skill set, and this IS going to attract many many l337 doodz.

Here is how we solve the FOTM problem: no wp (general direction, paw prints/tracks), specials that don't involve combat, like stealth for PvP, simple HAM bonuses and defenses, some of the things (that make sense and does not violate continuity) that you would have gotten from the profession that you would have in the alternat profession you use in a PvP template. If PvP is your only thing, you would still go to the other template. But if PvE is your thing and PvP on the side (this is what I wanted, btw) then you toss something and go ranger.

The trick is all in the details of what these things we add are and how strong.

Hmm maybe when WoW and EQ2 get published before we get revamped we have a chance to stay clear of this l337 doodz
