Can we please sticky this (it had dropped to the 3rd page)? So on the off-chance that a developer accidentally drops in on our forum that they will see it? And what ever happened to Tiggs starting a thread asking for our top issues?

Personally, I don't think any Droid should be able to harvest as much as I can when wielded by someone of less 'skill' then I. I think the majority of things mentioned are great points and I'm blessed to be a member of a profession with such a great community.

My top issues. Some easily fixed. Some just complaining.

1. Trapping
- Traps useless. Give them to the Master Scout. Get rid of this tree.

2. Camo
- Fix it to work, and work on all NPC's and animals, give FS NPC's the chance to break it. Some higher level animals should be able to break it if you get to close.

3. Camps
- Make the HTFB useful for something other than healing wounds. Fix the barrier to work. Kreetles should be able to enter a HTFB and attack you while you take a bathroom break.

4. Exploration
- Get rid of this tree. Having extra terrain negotiation does nothing.

5. Rescue
-Some like it some don't. Still doesn't fix the fact that it doesn't work right. Being unselfish I would like to have it to help someone in a hunting party.

6. Harvesting
- Take away the group penalty if there's a Ranger in the group. As we go up the tracking tree make the penalty less and less. With a Master Ranger in the group, the penalty is gone with a nice bonus to all.
- At the Master level there should be no class or mix of classes that havest more than us, including anyone with a droid. Also Masters get the right to harvest the whole creature.

With Exploration and Trapping gone that leaves us 2 trees to fill. Why not a mix of skills from CH and SL?

Squad Leader

1.Boost Morale
- We are Rangers for god sake. Just having us around knowing the area is morale boost, making people comfortable. This also helps the lower levels from taking to much damage, spreading evenly among all group members.

2. Form Up
- We should know how to cure dizzy and stun, especially from animals.

3. Retreat
- A new guy accidentally fires the wrong shot, bringing every creature on the planet to the group. Let's GTF outta here.

4. System message to group
- Being the leader of a hunting party or a small infiltration squad, you can let everybody know what's going on.

5. Squad Leader bonuses (modifiers). Would be a great help in groups for hunting or attacking. You have people with a mix of skills, and these bring them together. A more experienced player would already be maxed on say melee defense, but a newer player may not have any. This would would help the newer player last longer in the group, instead of getting killed right from the start.

My personal opinion get rid of squad leader all together and give it to us.

Creature Handler

You know we as Rangers have more creature knowledge than a Creature Handler? Pretty sad isn’t it?

1. Having this knowledge we should be able to have one above the normal level 10. I would say a no more than a level 30. I’m sure a lot of us are loners having a friend around would be nice. Not giving us all the commands, we should just get the basics. Attack, Stay, Group, Follow. Guard would be nice to just in case a Master Ranger wasn’t paying attention. And I know that doesn’t happen does it?

My overall fixes, my opinion of course. Some apply to SWG in general.

1. Give us a weapon. I have a beam rifle that cannot be used by anybody. The last time I checked you could still make them. I haven’t checked in quite awhile. The weapon is there, make it a Tranquilizer Gun?

2. Get rid of the player cities or at least open up the non-player cities that are already there. Let us live in them. To keep player cities, they should bring up the max items you can have in the house, and/or make the furniture items not count against house storage. This gets rid of all the houses used for storage.

3. Make vehicles used only from city to city, city to waypoint, or even waypoint to waypoint. Want to see what’s out there in the wild? Walk alone, or bring a Ranger. At the least keep the vehicles out of the city to reduce the LAG, pets included.

All of these are of course my own opinion. Most with wearing of blinders, and the sole purpose of improving the elite profession of Ranger. My first elite and still holding on. There are some outstanding ideas in our forums contributed by others that I would like to see. Most of them with more thought into it than me. I feel lucky to be among these people. I feel we are one of the only, if not the sole profession that comes up with answers, instead of complaining.

ummm I've been really getting annoyed at dissappearing lairs during missions. It makes it kind of hard to finish the mission when the lair dissappears and reappears with full health bar.

I tend to agree with WildBil2Me. It's sad that a Novice Scout with a droid can harvest as much as a Ranger.

We need to be more like Doctors when it comes to comparisons. For the amount you invest you need to be unique for the class, not for being crazy to be a Ranger.

Terrain Negotiation: Crawling faster does me no good. Maybe have the extra skill mod apply to vehicles.

Harvesting: Atmaster we should be able to either harvest one resource but get double the amount of scout. Or be able to harvest the same amount but all types.

Traps: As said before, need more powerful traps to make it worthwhile. Have one at or master than can KD and/or dizzy a target.

The pretty feeble increase in our harvesting abilities compared to Nov. Scout (our base profession)

The group harvesting penalty.

Those are my current two pet niggles.

ANd I'll 'splain why...

I had my entertainer toon running last night, novice dancer/musician. On the other puter I was running another account and brought in a novice entertainer to do a quick comparison.

I had them both work though the same macroed performance, so, same instrument, same tune, same flourishes. There was a HUGE increase in XP gained by the 'senior' musician over the total newb.

I then equipped the 'senior' toon with a higher end instrument, analogous to equipping a specialist weapon, and the difference in XP / tick was more than tenfold. Newb gets 2, the old hand gets 20-24XP a time.

In addition we were both recieving a bonus for being IN a group.

COmpare that situation to the novice scout / MASTER ranger. The figures don't even compare.

I love the idea of ranger, but know that I will probably drop it soon (again) in favour of something more useful. My suggestions are:

1) Tracking range increased. Often on group hunts with the team spread out over a few hundred meters, my 500m range means that by the time I spot something, somebody else has already walked into it.

2) More frequent burst runs. Ranger takes up a lot of sp, and provides no defense skills. I see the ability to run away as my defense (I have chosen ranger over potentially more useful melee defense professions to complement rifleman). Therefore I'd like to see the pause between burstruns reduced to minutes.

3) Better traps, particularly high damage traps that are placed on the ground like mines, and snares which reduce movement.

The camping line also needs revising, just because I can't remember the last time I ever used a camp. Seems to me that the concept of camping was eroded sometime ago, and it needs to either be scrapped or made useful again.

if you are in a group and that one of your teammate attacks a mob pack, the mob tend to engage you even if you are under the effect of a camokit and 200m away from them without attacking.

1) Harvesting is not powerul enough, and would like either an increased harvest or harvest all facility

2) The Terrain Negotiation skill is barely relevant to most rangers as it is purely crawl speed

3) Camps have practically zero functionality and are more or less decorative ways of using up resources

4) The ranger trap line is underpowered and needs either improved trap functionality, greater ability to affect the highest level creatures, or both

5) Foraging is a practically a useless skill - the only benefit seemingly being for going fishing...

Agreed, minus theharvesting facility. I like my work to be 'at the keyboard'.

/emote peeks into the Forum....

Hmmm...nothing has changed. Poor Calc is still forced to rehashing everything that is wrong with Ranger, despite the Holocron thread, The Outdoorsman Proposal, The Outdoorsman Proposal II and many other things.

JTL is upon us, and now they will make us wait, as Paks pointed, out many months, while they tell us JTL, the nonharvestable (hanadak) cash cow is taken care of. Has Tiggs made a post in here outside of the same introductory post she gave everyone?

Let's say they take 90 days from launch of JTL to address any Ranger issues. That means almost 2 years since Holocron's post. This is not even mentioning Thunderheart's repeated claims that the Outdoorsman Proposal was still on his desk, and claims that something was in the works for Camps after they nerfed them into a black hole.

I mourn for Ranger's. I know Calc wants to choke me when I say this but the Dev's don't even hate us...they just flat out ignore us. Drak made me laugh the other night though. He said he heard Ranger's will get some attention next year. Like maybe this time next year.
