As so the Rebels used Kinetic based weapons knowing them crazy Imperials would be Wearing recon Armor.

Battle Armor for the win. Its a balanced approach to combat not for looking purty.

The point is Battle armor gives us flexability that Recon or Assault don't.

Why are you beating a dead horse?

I guess on that point we should make all professions have battle armor right? Surely everyone deserves the "best" armor.

So we should screw the Ranger that is Riflemen then correct.

Alot of rangers have master Rifles and own faction battle armor or RIS.

So we should just up and screw them for playing their profession?

No way to make everyone happy, but battle armor gives the Ranger the most options.

This way a Ranger can fullfil that special Ops role better, and use armor suited to the mission requirments.

Ugggh. Battle Armor is the most horrendous looking armor in the game. Except for Factional Armor...

I wouldn't get caught wearing padded armor. It just looks goofy, especially the mushroom helmet. The Marauder Armor looks bulky, and RIS is just okay for the helmet, the rest of it is just to archaic and heralds back to the samurai era. This is opposed to the Star Warsy feel that I'd like to get. Bone Armor, well it's just plain bone, especially has the stigma of newbie armor from Pre-CU days.

So, I guess it's Pistoleer, Smuggler, or Rifleman for recon. It really would make sense for the new Ranger to be Recon, as it's energy resists as most humanoids (ranged & jedi) are all energy damage.

For critter hunting, it's all about kiting, and if you're getting hit, then you're too close.

It's great that Ranger is becoming the Army Ranger vision. And besides, with the new pre-requisitesmost will become Master Ranger/Master Carbineer, and both hold Battle Armor Certs. Why be redundant? Recon will just give more flexibility and will fit in to the new Ranger paradigm.

Some may like this change but it makes no sense to have a scout, recon, spy class that relies on stealthwearing battle armour. Recon armour is the logical choice.

I for one would hate to lose the custom RIS made just for my ranger.

If you are going for the "spy" or infiltrator argument, NO armour would make sense, as in inert armour.
The only Ranger they pointed to in the movies did not wear armour did he. Or at least it was covered by robes if he wear.

If they're trying to push us into carbines, then we'll have the great options of battle, or battle... good call.

As a pistoleer what armor do you wear...

If the prereq stay Marksman 0040 nothing prevents you from being a Master Ranger, Master Pistols,Rifles,Swords,TKM, ad nausem...

You would have points eaten jusk like a smuggler does but very litte else.

So for those Rangers with the above masteries Battle Armor is a good call. For some yes its a redundant certification.

For me I planned ahead I was switching to Carbines anyhow just in case it stayed Recon so I could continue to use my Faction battle armor and RIS.

The cert right now is battle armor and has been since the CU.

It made since at the start of the CU for rangers to have battle armor and it makes just as much sense now to retain the cert for battle armor.

Just a question for you Why is it called recon armor.

Does it impart any special recon skills or abilities?

Do you sneek and peek any better wearing recon armor verus assault or battle?

It just a name thats all. What would have made armor and weapons unique and special never made it to live from the CU beta testing.

They are poor names for what these armors really do.

Recon aremor is Energy resistant armor thats all it is.

Assault armor is Kinetic resistant and not worth as much in a firefight versus battle or recon armors.

So its just a name that serves little choice in how a player fights.

So MIxed Mode armor give us the best of both worlds compared to Energy resistant armor and Kinetic resistant armor.

Why? Bone armor would likely be light. Padded armor is described as being light and flexible. Wouldn't that be the best? Battle armor is the most flexible (in terms of resists) armor in the game. Recon armor will never be as good as battle at being flexible. To get the kinetic resists up to the same level as base battle, you have to drop the energy protection to below what the battle armor will have. Battle armor can be specialized to a much greater degree.

I reiterate, what about "recon" armor makes it better for recon? Other than the name? If it was just caused "energy resistant" armor, would you still lobby this hard for us to get it? The best argument I've heard thusfar is so we can get Imperial Scout Trooper Armor. Thatarmor wasfeatured heavily in a movie where the Rebel version of Rangers (sneaking into the base in camo) were featured, so they'd seem to be the Imperial Rangers.

But the absolute worst argument is so we can get more certs for those of us who'll already have a battle cert from their main profession. Those to me are more selfish arguments, less rooted in what's good for the Ranger profession, and more rooted what is good for that individual person. Some people have rifleman, some have BH, some have others. We can't base what armor we get on those factors though. We have to choose what would be best for a Ranger.

If the only profession you have in your template is Ranger, which armor makes the most sense in terms of FUNCTION? I say battle.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.
