Thread: How can Master Rangers say scout xp nerf is ok with a straight face?
Sucks you didn't get it earlier, but Scout was a tad easy I have to admit.
Sorry about that, what am I going to do, drop all my skills and start from scratch?

Not a master and I accept the nerf... I had finished scouting and trapping XP and since nothing was happening I surrendered my Ranger skills and played with other things. When they announced the changed I got back on the wagon and have again finished scouting and trapping and have nearly completed my 3rd level of camping.
The only tough XP for a Ranger is Wilderness XP (Camping) and that is coming down. Of course they will probably apply the patch the day after I finish my wilderness XP the hard way....)
Also if you are still doing 42 xp mobs, maybe you have other things to work on before becoming a Master Ranger....

120,000xp=2857ADDITIONAL blue con's at 42xp apiece I have to kill that YOU did not. So spare me, ok?

How can Master Rangers say scout xp nerf is ok with a straight face?
Let's see a con blue 42xp are CL0 which can be taken out in 1 second, 2 if you're fresh off the boat with a CDEF. So that's an extra 2,857 seconds you have to play (for those who are math-averted, it's all of 0.7 hours). Wow, OMG, this is too hard, I can't take this anymore. My face is all scrunched up. I have to play all of an extra hour to gain these XP.RLOL.
Don't forget they added the "group" harvesting. So imagine a party of 20 hunting kimolgie. So, whereas before, the kimolgie only yield 1000 scouting xp, now it yielded 12 times as much, 12,000 scouting xp (20 players x 600 scouting xp). Oh, this nerf will make it really really tough to gain scouting xp. (sarcastic straight face turn off).
YodaEar, what you're complaining about is just a form of "p n s envy". You're not even thinking if making master scout/ranger with the new xp requirement reasonable or not. All you're complaining about is you who plunge before had it "easier". Well, tough. You didn't play Ranger when most Ranger stuff was broken. You didn't deal with all those issues. So what the big deal?

Not only Master Rangers, but those who already maxed scout xp. How can you seriously tell those of us that have yet to max scout xp the xp nerf is not a big deal when you reached the top with the current requirements? Can you honestly say you would be praising the nerf if you were still trying to get your lines up? Some of you will say yes knowing you will never have to do it. I question the honesty of the answer though.
Almost all that I have seen saying the nerf is ok have already gotten there! It does not affect them in the least! It is insulting to me to have someone not affected tell me it's not bad, lol.We are talking about an extra what? 120,000 scouting xp?? THat is alot of hours added to making Master Ranger that YOU did not have to endure. Please do not tell me it is an acceptable nerf.

I know Master's must be happy with the additions and I don't expect you to care about the xp nerf at all. Because it doesn't affect you. But I really do not want to hear anymore of you telling me it is ok. It makes me want to vomit.
Back to racing the patch.
You're kidding, right? Seriously.
OK. I'll be less sarcastic this time.
How can we say scout xp nerf is good with a straight face?
Let's take 3 elite professions: Ranger, Pistoleer, and Creature Handler.
To master Ranger (new xp requirement) require a total of 340k scouting, 170k trapping, and wilderness nobody want to know.
To master Pistoleer requires 3,675k pistol xp.
To master Creature Handler requires 1,170 creature handing xp.
To go with YodaEar example, a master ranger would need to kill 8k gubber (42 scout xp each) to master rnager. By comparision, a Pistoleer would need to kill 88k and a Creature Handler would need 28k. That's 11 times longer for Pistoleer and 4 times longer for Creature Handler.
So how can a Master Ranger say nerf the scout xp with a straight face? Because it's too easy and still will be too easy as compared to other elite profession.
Where were all you smartasses when I posted asking the best way to get scout xp?? I got a bunch of replies saying the fastest way is to kill blue 42xp mobs because you can do it very fast. Now I get tons of post making a joke of me for doing just that.
I can kill bigger mobs like bolle bols and get 300 scout xp but these people are right. In the time it takes to kill 1 big red con I can get more xp one shotting little blue things. And for the funny math guy, you know **edit** well it is not 1 second per mob just because you can 1 shot them.
This is more a matter of principle that anything else. I became a Ranger with certain xp requirements, I do not appreciate them changing those on me halfway through. There was a beta test and now we are near 2 months into the game. Changing them now, esp after many made Master is utter BS.I am done with this topic, obviously no one agrees with me so there is no sense on continuing anyway.
The biggest thing I am sick of with MMORPG's is paying to beta-test games. From now on I will follow the same practice I use with new OS's. I will wait till they have been out awhile before I buy them. I am tired of paying to beta test. But I am more tired of other gamers who think this is acceptable and do not question it at all. I wonder how many of you have your parents paying for you.
Yoda,
Here's some strategies for you from the Scouts.

Being frustrated is fine - I understand. But you knew what you were getting yourself into. You said as much yourself. We all knew when we picked the game up (at least those of us playing on the first day and who had been waiting for a long time) that the game wasn't perfect. I, frankly, couldn't wait any longer and didn't care as long as I could get in the game. I think many of us felt the same way.
B
First, as someone who has yet to reach Master Ranger, I am in total favor of the XP increase. I was saying this the first week of the game. It is too easy to get Master in some Elite professions. If we want all the cool toys then we have to be willing to pay for them. Sure, those who have Master Ranger are lucky to get it the "easy" way but so be it. I will be happy to work out the extra xp.
Second, I have found that without a good group the fastest way to get scout xp is, indeed, to kill creatures that give me around 40 scout xp per. My rate of xp is much faster that way. I have hunted whites and yellows and even reds (solo) and the fastest xp over time is the blues and light blues. This should probably be nerfed. One should be rewarded more for a bigger challenge.
Third, I see people complaining about paying for beta a lot; well, there are perks to doing this, many are able to achieve quicker xp, more loot, more cash, more everything, during this time than once the game has worked out all of the major issues. In EQ people (who knew best) would raid new zones and new add-on areas ASAP before the areas were nerfed because the devs either make things easier to begin with or just have not had enough data to make it more difficult.
In 6 months, when this game is a bit more solid, new people will join and find it much more difficult to level. Sure, they might have more fun overall than we are right now, but they will take many, many months to gain Master anything than we did.
This *e*d*i*t* math guy will tell you the same thing everybody else had been telling you on this board:
The fastest way to gain scouting xp is to kill as fast as possiblewith as little down time as possible. That means con blue 42 xp newbie creature. One shot one kill=one second to kill.
Yes, I left out some details. I left it up to you so you have some fun figuring it out. But since you're intent on dragging everybody else down instead of pulling yourself up,here's the rest of the tactics. Since the kill is the quick and easy part, the strategy then is to maximize kills per hour.
Since the strategy is to maximize kills per hour and since there are only a limited number of creatures with an area, that mean you MUST be constantly moving, read YOU MUST NEVER STOP MOVING. You must also find an area that will always have creatures--those spot are right outside of major city.
Now, create harvesting macro and drop them into your toolbar slot. Harvesting macro are /harvestcorpse (for any random type), /harvest meat, /harvest hide, /harvest bone. Equip your highest damage weapon and favorite special shot and drop that in the toolbar slot. You're ready to go hunting. You need to do this because you have to quick on the harvesting.
Now go to the outskirt of the city, hit "Num-Lock"--the default for autorun--and your avatar will be running by himself. TAB to target creature, one shot kill creature, run toward creature, when you get within 15 m, hit the harvesting toolbar slot, then TAB target next creature and repeat. If you run around the city, by the time you get back to your original spot, all the creatures will have be respawned, so you can keep on cutting until you're bored.
I get up to 10k scouting xp per hours doing this.
If this is not your idea of fun, then use this strategy. Go to the mission terminal, pick 2 destroy missions far from each other. Equip as above. Now, as you go out to your first mission, kill every con bluein sight(yes, you must kill on the run). Finish your first mission. Then go to your 2nd mission. On the way there, kill every con blue in sight. Finish your 2nd mission. Go back to city. On the way back, kill every con bluein sight. I get an average of 6k scouting xp per hours doing this.
"Exploit", heck no. "Cheating", heck no. "Boring Grinding" heck no.
So what the problem, my mathematically-challenged friend? Just because you can't/won't do this, don't p-ssed on everybody else and drag them down too.
If you want to bea "good" ranger, then hunt con red solo. You'll have to use every arsenal, every bag of tricks, every terrain advantage you got. It's fun. And you will still be able to pull about 3-4 k scouting per hour. In fact, the best initiation into a ranger guild would be for that master ranger to solo con red on each of the different planets.

Saying you're sick of it with MMORPGs implies you've been through this experience before, so you should have known the game might be incomplete. It was your choice to sign up this soon after launch. At least this time around, you've learned that lesson. As for other gamers, if they are happy with the experience, how does that hurt you any? It's like being angry at someone because it's raining and they happen to enjoy rainy days while you don't. Your arguments are starting to degenerate into straight-out insults (the "parents" comment); maybe you just need to take a break from the boards for a bit.
