Thread: Anyone want to be a Jedi??
"I havn't heard any of the devs come out and say "Holocrons are the key to becomming a jedi". Has anyone else?"
My impression is that Holocron's simply give you a clue as to which profession you must master next...
- They are not a required step in the path to Jedi though.

"I have maxxed all my ranger exp so getting it back shouldn't take too long."
Note:
- If you begin surrendering skills, your experience cap will also decrease.
- You may find the next time you gain Scouting Exp. that you will lose -100000 exp in the process.

I'm going to stay on my path regardless of what a holocron tells me. Hopefully it will say 'Master Ranger' or 'Master TKA.' If it doesn't, oh well.
I don't think quests and badges are useless. I think they are part of the overall equation.
Bumping my original post -
Again, a hard day at work, so I was reading the Jedi forums for giggles -more thoughts -
I have now been asked no less that 10 times to go to Dantooine and areatrack FS NPCs. Was offered big bux too. Common sense prevailed tho, and I refused and went about my merry way, harvesting my way thru the country side.
Yes, I said badges were useless, I still do, as not all classes can earn them. How in the hel l is a Master dancer gonna shot up a bunch of badguys on some prison and free some ranchers?? I really wanna see a Master Chef run all over Tatooine and play with the freaking mountain squills. The devs said time after time that anyone can unlock the FSS. See my point? Oh wait, lemme take off my hat !!
As to the holocrons - Not gonna play that. If doing what I want does not earn me a FSS, so be it.
Maybe my idea bout Master Ranger + Master Combat profession = Antarian Ranger title will actually catch on. Nrass, if you are reading this, pls take note, I had a second good idea.
Finally, the question in the original post was directed at Rangers, asking them if they were willing to leave Rangering to go become homemakers and Master Hairdressers in their quest to become a Jedi. Twas why it was posted here.

Being a non-Jedi means I have to get out of bed to turn off the light switch... the clapper was invented for lazy Jedi
JB,
The devs are right, anyone CAN become a Jedi. However, your choices determine whether you WILL become a Jedi. A character with no combat skills probably cannot become a Jedi. But it is that person's choice not to pick up combat skills. Nothing is stopping that person from gaining combat skills, though they might have to drop some non-combat skills to do so. If EVERYONE could open their FS slot no matter what, then everyone would be a Jedi. The devs are counting on the fact that many people will not be willing to give up their hard-earned skills in the search for enlightenment. This will keep Jedi rare. I certainly don't intendto gosearching for enlightenment, but if it finds me, well then...
I actually thought it was kind of a cool idea. Your choices determine who you are. Jedi are supposed to be naturally drawn to certain things. They know instinctively how to craft their lightsabers. They are agile, quick-witted, persuasive, dynamic. These people would be naturally drawn towards certain professions. Look at Luke and Leia. Action and power. Ambition. Always in the thick of things, always moving forward. We know the developers have avatars on each server (how else would they give out the good Bio badges?). Perhaps one of the requirements is that you be noticed and recognized as having these qualities. That would be VERY cool. I think Rangers have a good chance there. We are always either in the thick of things, or running all over heck and back. Exploring. Interacting. Very determined to do the best we can withthe skills we have available.
We are almost a Jedi class to ourselves!

Well said Vorpaks.
If I got a holocron I would probably give it to my friend.. It seems that you have to master at least 4 professions on the path to open a fs slot. I don't have the time to search for a holocron or master other professions althought I wouldLOVE to be a jedi.
Yeah, that's why I'd prefer a crafting or medical profession so I can just lock myself in a house and grind it and not worry about maskscent or harvesting.

You can be a master dancer/master chef and master TK/pistoleer/CH.
Besides. All you need to do is be part of a big group and stay out of combat if you are a pure non-combat and still get badges or whatnot.
Area track is completely bugged. Dantooine is bugged. If an area on Dantooine isn't loaded, no matter how many mobs are spawned there you will never see anything in tracking. Remember what Holo said. They keep the db requirements down by only keeping things loaded that are near PCs which is 1 reason why houses don't decay. They did not think about that when they put in tracking. I ran around Dant with my PA and tracking was basically useless. We just used the known WPs for ruins to track down FS NPCs.
This is one Ranger who probably WON'T.
No, I am not a complete poopiehead when I play... I have trained countless people for free and always wish them luck. I take noobs out hunting just for the kick of watching them kill big(ger) animals and get decent XP. I heal people and don't step on missions (well, mcuh, I will shoot targets of Importunity)
But, alas, I do tell members of one guild to pound sand on training and trading, as certain members are buttheads. I have told rude people (I need training, now) to move along, I don't train their kind.
I may go badge hunting, once the furor dies down and their are not houses with vendors built along the badge route.
Nah, I am playing like I have been, not changing.
Oh, the instinctive thing about lightsabers... how come Corran had to learn how to use the shortcut method?? (I, Jedi)
Ok, back to work for me. Be on later, killing and harvesting as usual.

I'll line up on the same side as those not willing to give up Ranger if called to. I didn't count it, but the responses seem to be slanted in that direction. It makes since too, because I thinkwe'rein thisprofession becauseour lot wants to emerse in the SWG universefor what it is ( Ranger wishlist not withstanding), and Ranger is quite naturally the way to do that. At leastthat's how it appears to me. I know what I want, and I'm doing it.If it dovetails with an FS slot, great.
I wonder though, if any ofanyonehas considered the possiblity that a purchased holocron is possibly no good? That maybe when that thing passes from NPC to you, it's YOUR holocron, and only reveals whatYOUR avatar needs to do (whether in whole or in part). Once bought, there would be no guarantee that the professions playerX needed to masterare thesame onesplayerY needs to master. Now how do you feel,Mister3M credits for my FSS?Poetic justice. This is avast and enjoyable universe, and one that from all indications will continue to expand. I for one,am doingwhatI'm drawn to,FS come if it may.
I'd rather kill Jedi. If I ever get the FSS slot, it will not be because I tried. But I find that there are enoughprospective jedis who will buy my holocrons from me for over a mil. Can't argue with that kinda cash ![]()
