Thread: Public Service Announcement: Trapping XP Problem
Well headed out to dantooine...
with +21 trapping food it appears the highest I can trap is cl 38
I am not amused heh
Master Ranger Trapping has become a nightmare for me! I have tried small creatures for a 1 xp per kill and have hit Tortons on Rori for 3 to 4k xp but about 5 out of 63 traps used.....I have soloed and group hunted with misrable results and have even thought of dropping the game entirely. I have had all the blocks filled for Master Ranger for a few weeks and even traded in most of the 1 million xp in the Master Ranger block in the village and re-filled the block.....The trapping blocks after all of this is still in the first tier at about 48k with 175k required and a total of about 1.2 million xp to do the four blocks. I'm going to be 61 in Sept. and at the rate the trapping is going I'll be in my grave and they will be still unfinished. I never had this kind of problem in the real world in the Marines!!
I have sent an e-mail to the devs and I know they are big time tied up but a short reply about the problem would be nice.
Well, fellow toons I have got some of it off my chest and that may help in the short term, and maybe some of you will see that you are not alone in this swamp.

I'd highly recommend some trapping food if you haven't tried it. It can make quite a big difference, supposedly.

just j/k a bit, but really, ouch.
Ok, so I am not sure this will help you guys, but this is what I had to do.
Currently I am a ranger 4040, and am working on trapping (Yes I respeced to ranger because scouting trapping at CL 80 was HORRIBLE)... but like the bonehead I am , i thought that trapping would be easier now that I am a ranger so I did not respec the whole thing. DOH! Ok, I have tryed droids,........not sure why, but they do not work at all right now. Must be a CU thing. My trapping skill is 50, and my droid has a bonus of 79, and it cant hit the broad side of a barn from 3 feet away. I just grinded (solo) 82k of trapping XP and this is how I did it. First off, I dropped my CL level down to 70. Then I bought Dweezl. This gives you a plus 20 to your trapping skill for about 14 minutes. Now with 70 in trapping, I got missions from CL 68 - 72 creatures. (Yes, I know how to track, but the WP arrow just makes it that much easier. (On a side note, I think we should be allowed to see CL level when tracking too.....maybe add that to Master Ranger)......
with Dweezl I am hitting CL 72 creatures 90% of the time. I think that the skill is parallel to the CL level. Not sure though. First time I killed the beast I got a wopping 593 trap XP. I am like oh hell.....LLLLOOONNNNGGG grind. But then I started hitting beast number 2 with a second trap when first wore off. Got more XP. Beast number three I decided to root (I am pistoleer) and used my tranquilizer on him....he didnt move after that, so I started throwing every trap I could make.... Long story short, I hit him 6 times with 6 different traps, and got 2500 trap XP.
Another side note (Phecnacine Dart is a snare trap, but after I use it with my camo on, I can sit there and fire all day long and he is perm root. Not sure if this is a bug, but for now it helps. )
Just went through a crate of 25 and not one point of xp woot!
guys...read the above posts.
You are going to have to grind up your trapping until you can land traps on CL 80 critters. When that happens (trap skill box 2 ) go to MO and find a group. Eat some Dweezel (gives you +20 to your trap skill) and put your gun AWAY! Chuck traps.....and more traps...and more traps....there is absolutely no other way to do this. You HAVE TO GRIND. But at least with a group, you are getting 5k per critter, not 2k.
I know what you are going to say....."I cant land any traps that wont work for me".......3 posts up....read my post. I was CL 70. had no trap skill boxes. And before you tell me that it is easier because I was a higher CL/.......it is the opposite. Your trap skill has NOTHING to do with your CL. And your CL has NOTHING to do with your trapping skill. If you can land traps on CL 58 while you are 60.....then that is what you are going to have to do. Double XP should help you. And for crying out loud....GO BUY SOME DWEEZEL!!! It will help.
