I think the problem with Maskscent is this (and possibly someone has already expounded at length about this before, so apologies if this is redundant):

You run past a group of aggro critters without mask scent up. You are 30m away. Not every one of those aggro critters will get a chance to see you. Some will not get that chance. And of the ones that do see you, not all will immediately aggro on you. Most will stalk, or at least wait until they go from "?" to "!" before aggroing.

On the other hand...

You run past a group of aggro critters with mask scent up. You are 30m away. Every critter you run past gets a chance to break your mask scent. If you get a "critical failure" on the check, the critter aggros on you.

Therefore, statistically, you will draw aggro with masked scent more often than you will draw aggro without it.

This is why I always drop masked scent when I'm skirting around critters that deathblow. Don't wanna even take the chance of a Mask Scent critical failure.

Actually, it's just plain breaking, at >40m where aggro is not checked. I put it up and it drops in 3 minutes. I put it up again and drops in 5. again and in 2. again and in 4.... I go through this about 8 times in 30 minutes and soon I no longer even bother. I never get in aggro range, that would be just plain dumb. The only reason I do at all is so the yellow dots on the 'dar don't get all worked up at my passing through them.

Since /maskscent is "free" and requires no resource depletion nor crafting, I'd be comfortable with it breaking just like it does now.

Conversely (inversely? I get the two mixed up), /conceal requires a kit. Also, the in-game description is that we're covered in "complex camoflauge." If I'm wearing camo fatigues and have reeds sticking out of my hat, then I'm not sure they should go away the moment I pull my trigger. Particularly if I'm like, lying down 64m away with my rifle using /concealshot.

Not that I use rifles, but I know at least one Master Ranger / Rifleman whose character concept is based around sniping.

speaking of reeds sticking out of your hat, I want graphics changes for /conceal. nothing too fancy, how about you just give me one of those viet-cong style bush hats?

or atleast a cool cloak with the hood UP...when will males get cloaks with hoods? or are they playing sexist and only giving the females the hood up cloaks?
