Anyways, enough of this, we need a good highjack.

Hows things man? Its been reletively quiet recently. Or has there just been too much fluff and ive been too busy?

Well we can't be 100% based on the Antarian Rangers because it sounds like the devs got some of the ideas from Garindan. He makes up the spy-role and things like the stealing skill. I think we might be confusing this with the army-style recon of the Antarian Rangers.

I still say Garindan used areatrack to find them...

Hmm, you want a highjack? Well, since you asked for it:

Shaupauts!

Hawtpants!

Ranger Hat!

Calc's Pictures!

I can think of more but something are just too cruel. Hopefully something here will fulfill the proper role.

Dont get too excited about "blowing stuff up"

BHs get bomb droids and those are about as effective as shooting spitwads at the mark. The devs arent going to give us something that will rip things apart, just strong enough to annoy..maybe. (or aggro EVERYTHING)

Calc,

I think the Ranger template can be used for what the player wants to use it for. Itf you want to be like the AR go for it, if not you can combine all kinds of skills to be the Rangera player wants. The basic set-up is definitely not 100% AR.

Yeah, but it's still a pretty big stretch, IMO...our role is to sneak in and take down personnel, but the Antarian Role, from that document is to sneak in and be the recon trooper may of the Rangers wanted.

But, SWG has a way of making those big, creative leaps. When I think ofa pistoleer, I think of an old west (movie glorified) gunslinger. That isn't even CLOSE to what is in the game. With the CU, pistoleers were given a crowd control element, but but rifles and carbines would be MUCH more effective in suppressing fire.

So I guess I am saying, the DEVS creative liberties stike again, and I should just get over it . I just hate hearing people say that the new Ranger is an AR, becuase it's not, in my book.

Well, I've still been around. I just haven't been posting that much. Most of what I would want to post falls into one of three categories where posting becomes a bad idea:
1. The "If you don't have anything nice to say" category.
2. The "If it's been said 100 times then 101 times won't help very much" category.
3. The "You don't have time to write that long of a post" category.

From what I have read, and im sure its not near everything, the Antarian Rangers served in three capasitys.

First, they worked as backup for the Jedi. They went with them on missions, helped them with information gathering, and watched their backs. This would have been the main stream ranger. They would be the most common. (Templet suggestions:Ranger/Smuggler, Ranger/Melee, Ranger/Ranged)

Second, they worked as mediators for people who found the Jedi to imposing or powerful. They served in the same capasity as a Jedi mediator and were give the same respect, but they went were the Jedi were seen as to powerful by the people involved. These diplamatic rangers would be less common and would likely exist at higher levels of the orginization. (Templet suggestions: Ranger/Smuggler, Ranger Politician)

Third, they did the Jedi's dirty work. Assassinations, Infiltration, General Distruction would fall to this group. Although its within a Jedi's abilitys, its kind of below them and bad for PR. However a squad of rangers could opperate anonamisly and accomplish the same goals. These units would be uncomin and would consist of the best of the best. (Templet Suggestions: Ranger/Commando, Ranger/BH, Ranger/SL, Ranger/TKA)

All three groups have a place in the Antarian Rangers. The revamp we are getting most closly resembles the third group. However can be easyly ajusted to play either of the other two parts.

As far as disapearing goes, if you conseal yourself in the realworld you become very dificult to see. The military uses differnt forms of camo so that the blend into whatever envroment they find themselves in and become dificult to see. In game thats hard to do. A charecter can crawl into a bush and if hes wearing the right clothing can almost disapear from a general glance, but is still easy to spot if your looking and the game AI doesnt even see the bush. Also in game radar is a dead givaway, it even tells you the name of the object your looking at now. I dont look at the conceal ability as makeing you disapear so much, as its the best simulated way to make real world camo propertys work in the game envroment.

I agree the stealing skill is mislabled. And the exploading trap is all people talk about (and is probably over rated.)

In closure, Id like to say the above suggested templetes are suggested for RP ablity, not for functionality. I am not saying that Ranger/CH, Ranger/BE, or Ranger/any not mentioned profession, are bad choises or dont fit, simply that they are harder to RP then the above mentioned combos. Id also like to say that the above view of the Antarian Rangers is my view, and though it may be shared with others, is not nessacaly the only and/or cannon view. It is what I have come to belive based on the litiure I have reviewed.
