Thread: Would this change the value of resources?
It's easier for me to use the site since I won't have people relying specifically on my updates to get that information each week and the site is already set up for it, mostly. [Note: It doesn't have Kashyyyk and the resource tree is still unavailable.
I also think usuage is kind of controlled by all the players. If everyone feels that no one is updating it, they don't bother doing so either. For that to change, a couple of dedicated people are going to have to do what they can and encourage others to contribute.
Its not an exploit. the crate of free resource give all the stats of any past and present resources , and for example, selecting the wooly hidetree , give the stats of the last available wooly on each planet, at the end of the list. as you have for a given day only one hide resource for a given hide type you are sure to know what is the current name of the resource , its location and its stats. thats why in this case the crate is very convenient but why it gives too a significant advantage to the crate owners.
for inorganic and organic non-single type of resources you will have to use survey droid at least. but once you know what is where all you have to do is open the crate and browse the lists. it take less than a half of hour to know all the stats of all the current resources ofa givenserver.
Since I've not played long enough to get one, I don't know how the crates work, or I should say, are intended to work. I was under the impression that you are given a crate, and there is a selection list so you can choose a resource, then when you choose the resource, you get a crate of that resource, and that's it.
Is this how they are supposed to work? Or are they indeed supposed to be a constantly updating list by which you can know the values of all the possible resources?

Never mind. I took the time to look up the reward in the Items and Loot forum. I hate to break it to you, but you're using the reward not as it was intended to be used, therefor the way your using it would be considered an exploit. The 30k Crate of Free Resource is supposed to be a reward, where you are given a list of all of the available resources from whatever world you happen to be on, and where you are supposed to pick the resource you want, then you are given 30,000 units of said resource.
Using the crate as a permanent lookup tool of the current resource stats of worlds is not using it as it was intended to be used, and therefore you're exploiting it.
Now, it's your personal choice to do so, and you're unlikely to ever be caught using it in that fashion, and I wouldn't ever dream of attempting to be a narc, but I don't choose to look at every game mechanic for loopholes and ways to use them in unintended fashions. That's why I always find out about exploits just AFTER they're fixed.

How is that an exploit?

Its a fact , thats all.
Ahhh thanks....
I didn't mean to touch off an extended exploit debate, so I promise never to admit to using my crate of free resources in this way :>

If SWGCraft is, indeed, getting fewer and fewer updates, this might be a good idea.

I'm sorry to say that but the use of veteran reward "crate of free resource"give todayto anyone the possibility to check, without to move to any planet, any kind of organic or inorganic resources stats. It makes , actually, a site like swgcraft.com completely useless. Im really surprised they didnt give to these crates a limit to their use. Past a certain time you should have to use it or see it destroyed.
Theyshould be bio linked to the players too imho.
I too used to make it a mission to update SWGCraft with all creature resources on one or two planets at-least once a week but found it taking much longer than I wanted to spend, so now it's hit and miss but I still use it religiously. Especially if I look up something (example dath bone) and get there and it's different than what's listed then I try to update it.
I think it's a highly valuable service, I just SWGManager was still working also for lookups with my DE
