Thread: Would this change the value of resources?

I am planning to, every 2 weeks, sample every creature-related resource from every planet on my Galaxy. However, I am not certain if making this available to the entire galaxy via the Bloodfin Galaxy Trade Forums would in fact decrease the value of uber spawns, should they arise. Another alternative would be to simply make 1 unit of each resource on a planet viewable on that planet's bazaar terminals, or to send an email with the stats to every crafter whom I respect, or whom I have done business with in the past.

I don't want to alter the value of organics. We would still have the amount of time necessary to harvest it all, the combat involved, the creatures it comes off of and whether or not there are missions for them, and the items that they are used in.

My first question is, do you know about SWGCraft.com?

See, every statement I see (on any forum but the Ranger forum) says that SWGcraft.com has not been updated in some time.

Rabid, that's what I've heard and read as well. I say, if you want to do it, go for it. If SWGcraft had posted (or is posting) the same or similar information, then it's already out there. If you do it as well, perhaps you'll do it better, or faster or whatever. I can't see you destabilizing any of the economy, the way the resource-shift system works.

exactly.

when updated, SWGcraft.com is a vital tool, but it is rarely ever updated for some servers.

Ok..I was just wondering. A current reource list shouldn't lower the price...why would it? The more people that know about (and want) the good resources, the higher th bidding will go. One thing you can do is use your finding to update SWGCraft (the allow player submissions), but if you are trying to avoid that, then a post on the trade forums would work.

The gist, yes, a list of current resources is a great help for crafters and should help your business.

I was actually thinking of doing the same thing myself, so I can find what the good stuff is to harvest. I've checked SWGCraft.com for the Corbantis server and it hasn't been updated in a while.

If you do it for your server and post it somewhere, I'll do it for corbantis using your list. I think it would be cool to put something like this on the SWGRanger page. Maybe somewhere hidden, so we will know what to harvest. Then when we sell some 999 stuff, or whatever and they ask us where we got it, we can take orders and get them more. . . Kind of staking a claim.

Just an idea. I'm in if you're doing this and posting it I'll help keep Corbantis stuff updated.

Bio - this would be a very good service, but don't underestimate the amount of time that it will take. I did this a long, long time ago, but eventually I stopped because it would literally take six hours or so of my time (between shuttleing and finding the right mobs, etc...). I even wrote a program to help import everything up to swgcraft.com. Eventually I stopped because I couldn't spend six hours a week doing only doing this.

At any rate, if you would want to try to get something going like this again, let me know - I could do a few planets and e-mail you the results. One definite change that I've noticed on the BF galaxy trade forums is that they are now 99% loot based - maybe doing something like this would help turn that around - who knows....

well me personally, i'm a Master Ranger/Master Rifles. i find its easy enough to get enough business contacts, even long term contracts without having vendors. plus that way, you can haggle, or barter, which is great fun.

Some planets are easy. I can get Insect Meat, Scaley Hide, Leathery Hide, Wild Meat, Wooly Hide, Herbivore Meat, Carnivore Meat, Bristley Hide, and Animal Bones just outside Cnet.

I have a few ways to quicken the pace. I was just wondering by what method would be tactful to display it.

Out of curiosity, just how relevant is SWGCraft.com resource tracking these days?

More and more I find the information on many servers to be over a week old when the data gets posted. In nearly all cases I have tried the resource is long gone by the time the info gets posted up there.
