Thread: Next Question for TH?

Two thoughts on ranger specific weapons:

The dumb one-What about a net throwing weapon. It could keep the creature immobile and maybe even have a DoT.We could even make our own DoT power-ups for the weapon(heat, electricity, acid)and slap them in.Every few rounds, the creature has a chance to break free.

The smart one-Anything that does high damage, right now a BH can floor anything with his LLC and out kill me over time.Give us a weapon that only rangers can use(call it whatever you want,I don't care what its name is)and is compareable in firepowerto the other elite professions.Just give us something that can keep pace.

I was going to wait to get a ew answers before I asked this, but we can go ahead and discuss. I think the Ranger Weapon question is fine, but we need to mail down what form it should take and what it should do. BUT if there are other ideas for questions, lets hear em.

/vote PvP traps for the GCW.

Throw a sticky trap on a TK to keep him from getting w/in range or throw one on a rifleman to prevent kiting. Or caltraps (or however you spell that) would have the same effect.

"Ouch! Who put these here?!!?!"

EDIT: Going back to work and learning how to spell any minute now...

Back on topic:

Which of our skilltrees are being looked at in the combat balance?

Problems with this question:

  1. They might feel even telling that much is a promise.

  2. Will start a rampant speculation on our board with the possible changes if they do answer.

  3. Useless answer if they say all of them.

Benefits

  1. We can concentrate on bringing in suggestions for those skilltree(s)

  2. We'll have a better idea what the CB will do for us.

  3. My curiousity will be (partly) satisfied

I'm for the harvesting question as well seeing as its one of the issues that is most likely to be fixed first.

So my question would be:

Why is it that Rangers cannot get a harvesting increase comparable to the skill points spent. For example in recent months we've had two additions to the harvesting rates for both scouts and rangers: Veghash and now the new driod modules. Veghash is an example of something that has benefit for both Master Rangers and Novice Scouts alike as it is a straight variable increase. The new driod modules however help the lower end of the harvesting spectrum (scouts) more than the upper end of the spectrum (higher end Rangers) by design. Given this is our bread and butter can you give us an explaination of:

a) Why the developers took the decision to undermine the skill points spent in the rangering profession by creating the driod modules as they did and not as a straight up increase, in the same vein as veghash, so that it would benefit everyone who uses the harvesting trees equally.

b) If the developers see a problem with Combat classes with the high level in the scout tree being able to out harvest us for medium to higher end creatures because of the rate at which they can kill them as oppossed to us. If so can you tell us if this will be address in the combat rebalencing or in another patch perferablywith an explaination of how this is going to be accomplished. If not can you please give us the logic behind why the status quoshould be the case.

Why dont we just go straight for the throat and simply ask a nice one line question with limited wriggle-out-waffle capacity..?

Question: - "What are camps actually for..?"

Supporting text: - From a poll conducted on our forum (we will need to do this obviously) our Rangers report making on average "X" number of camps per week. (Note, in my case that would be none now...!)

Lets embarrass them a bit why not?

-------------

On a slightly, but connected note, my despise of grinders is over when it comes to camps, they have no bloody alternative now. Can you see any hunting group being willing to stand about in a camp to allow a training Ranger to get XP, not too likley is it now. Indeed I've recently seen it in action, poor sod was throwing camps up everytime someone so much as paused only to disband them, literally, a few seconds later when the group moved on again.

While it wasn't the same question that the scouts asked, I could see us getting a similar answer...but, I am up for anything. I could go for a Combat Balance question, but I see a 50/50 chance at getting an answer...Ican seethis question is going to be much more difficult to formulate than the last one was.

Question: After research done within our community and in accompanyment with several other professions who are touched by the present "seeming intended role" of Rangers, we've found the profession is lacking in qualities tojustify the cost of skill points. With the combat balance and GCW revampson the horizon, the Rangers would like to know what role is intended for us in those realms. We understand it cannot be explained at length, but could you briefly give a summary on the DEVs vision? Will we finally have abilities that make us balanced with the other elite professions?

Or something like that...

Absolutely no on the Ranger Specific Weapon. The traps on players for the GCW sounds good as does what the hec are you going to do to make our CAMPS WORTH SOMETHING.

Better yet, "Why do you hate Ranger's?"

Not even a trap launcher to allow 64m range?

I would love to ask a question like that, but it will only get answered with a 'what do YOU think your role is?' Then the crankiness begins.

I wasnt really meaning that exact question, I'm aiming more at the context in so far as I suggest that we give them little room to wriggle. A short to the point question that under normal circumstances would generate a yes or no answer should, hah, generate a similarly brief and to the point answer. Perhaps saving on the pages and pages of discussion as to what the answer actually meant that has been the case on every forum that was touched last week. Ours possibly less than most, but we still had a great deal of debate on the answer didnt we.

"Are you going to increase our harvest rates?"

"Are you going to increase the value of foraged items?"

"Can we get the ability to harvest more than one resource?"

That sort of thing...?

I dont actually have a burning view on which question we ask but I would like it phrased in such a way that we "possibly" get a short and to the point answer, good or bad, so we know where we stand. I agree that this is going to be a more intresting selection than the last one, personally I might avoid anything relating to the GCW, let the others do that, for I'll bet they all will. Let's not waste our wish, so to speak..!

Either way I'll go with the flow and await the reply in antci------pation...
