Caltrops.

I'd like to suggest a change so that Rangers are NOT hit by the 40% harvest penalty when grouped with others. There aren't that many Rangers I know who can hunt high-level beasties on their own. If they have to spend so many points to get the best harvest rate possible, WHY penalize them for going with a 'heavy hitter'? Especially when SOE claims to want to build interdependance in skill sets. Sounds like a perfect way to build interdependance. Would such a thing be possible? Not that I'm a Ranger to ask questions...

Absolutely no on the Ranger Specific Weapon. The traps on players for the GCW sounds good as does what the hec are you going to do to make our CAMPS WORTH SOMETHING.

Better yet, "Why do you hate Ranger's?"

I really hate the idea of a trap launcher. I think its a waste of time. If you want to deal with traps, make them work on humanoids. We can throw traps ourselves, why waste a weapon on something we can already do with enough efficiency.

We need a weapon with a DOT!!! Like a tranquilizer dart or something,. If you want a crossbow or whatever...make it a ranger specific weapon.

Another question could be on the harvesting. Allowing a bump for rangers.

No traplauncher!!!

That's actually the critical problem bounty hunter (are you a ranger even?) traps are really REALLY not worth using. They stop you dead in place for about 4 seconds only cause status effects that wear off within a minute and must be thrown from within 48m, This allows any melee beastie to easily reach and hit you several times and anything with a ranged attack would already be mopping you around the floor.

A tranquilizer gun that had cert at master ranger or just the master trapper tree and loaded darts (traps) and a master ranger certed gun that did restraint damage would be much appareciated and under the circumstances, fair.

I agree. Absolutely not on the ranger specific weapon. What is needed is more of a "decent" creature critical hit chance that would include any wpn you used. (maybe +1 Novice, + 2, + 3, +4, +5, +10Master for a total of +25% to critical hit on first hit of the creature.

As far as traps, GCW traps would be nice. Also, Lure traps, and much better slow/root traps. Maybe even a Pheremone (sp?) trap that negates an aggro from you (or your group) but then you'd have to worry about a rancor trying to hump your leg I guess.

Keep in mind we are asking a question about the profession, not offering new ideas necessarily. We can certainly ask about new content, but making suggestions on new ideas can be done any day via the corr forum. I would prefer to ask about something we already submitted, not ask to have a change made. YOu know what I mean (I feel like i am not making my point...)?

While these are all nice ideas, how are we going to put them as a question? I can see asking if the Devs would consider allowing traps to work in PvP. But asking about a weapon will just get the "work with your correspondent to give us your ideas and we'll see what happens" response. They can't really answer it because they would have not clue. Even the PvP traps one would probably end up with a similar response. Or just "wait for the Combat Balance".

Personally, I'd want to ask them why they removed the ability to see the type of bone you can harvest and the listing of the amount of resource. Those were useful pieces of information that just disappeared one day. I wouldn't mind knowing why.

Traps being able to be used in PvP, on anybody/one/thing.

Make some of the traps actually worth something.

Doh! Not in the form of a question! Since the purpose of this thread was to suggest questions about the rangers changes in the upcoming Combat Revamp my question would be...

Will the combat changes enable Rangers contribute to PvP in the GCW? For instance, will we be able to apply our traps to opposing players during PvP? Will we be able to (insert stealth ideas here)? Please elaborate...

Yes, I am a Ranger. No, the holo did not tell me to do it! I started getting into Ranger, beacuse I was a BE. I had so much fun with it, that I decided to go master ranger, and got an alt that was a BE/Tailor. My Ranger is a big game hunter made for collecting the various organics I need as a BE.

Well, since we need to make it a question about something relevant to the game now, why not make it the harvesting issue. Just put it in plain mathematical terms. Master scouts can harvest X amount, while master rangers only harvest X amount. I dont have the stats, but Im sure some of you do. I think that is our most important question that needs to be answered. Why spend the skill points and not get the major benefit of the class??

And now with a good set of veghash, master scouts can get their CH level up to 75!!

They do even better with a droid. Someone already posted a sample between themselves a Master Ranger and a friend of theirs witha +105 Droid. I don't remember the exact numbers but after 1 hr the Scout with a Droid pulled over 10K more hides than the Master Ranger. So I would concur with you.

I think that a specific weapon for us would be a good thing. But we have to be careful. I only say this because if I remember right I have a beam rifle that I can't use as a rifleman, and niether can the commandos.

The beam rifle is already in the game, I looted one somewhere, and if nobody can use it now, why not change the specifics and give to us, as sort of a heavy duty tranquilizer rifle.

Other than that I think the caltrops is a good idea. When I started playing Mega TF, I remember when they were incorporated. Man that was brutal. They would slow down everybody, and they didn't wear off until you got a medic to fix you. That would be ok, I think.

Hopefully we willget those eventually, but it would make my day if you could hunt from the HTFB, and it kept out most creatures say CL 35 and below? Maybe not a good number, but fair I think without getting ridiculous.

And fix the harvesting bonus. We don't get much of bonus but we don't get the points to have multiple devasting weapons, which is why are harvesting bonus should be unmatchable by any class or dabblers.

My apologies for going on the rant.

I don't PvP much so the idea of traps for that doesn't do much for me. I have been a fan of a Ranger specific weapon for a long time. I vote for a cross-bowor tranqualizer gun.
