Not my point. Allow me to explain.
Rangers (for all intents and purposes this community's regular posters)view Ranger as a life style. What weare isn't aboutbeing Uber, its not about badges, its not about who "pwned" who or what. Its aboutindividual pride, self respect, respect for your comrades, pride in your trade, and sitting around the fire, BSing about what you did that day. For those reasons and hundreds of othersI can't think of Rangersare proud of who we are and ( for the most part ) we display our tags openly. Novice, Master, Re-spec........none of that means jack squat here. Its not a FOTMfor us...........its what we are.
As for you being a Ranger for a year and a half......Great, Glad to hear it, and nice to meet you. I've never seen you around here or in game, how wouldI know what you are? WhenI start seeing a lot of posts with out Scoutor Ranger sigsmy instincts tell me something is up. I wasn't flaming anyone ( I leave that up to JB and Bio ),I would just rather not see this place turn into the Jedi, or Bounty hunter forums.
Exactly, the reason the jedi and BH forums are in the state they are in is because of elitist folks who have some warped view that unless you were a pre pub 9 jedi or a BH who ground out investigation when there were no mounts you are somehow less than worthy.
Its the person behind the profession that matters and not the profession itself.
Folks are interested in rangerat the moment with the possible future alterations and its nice to see that rather than the constant, must be Jedi, must be BH.
Don't discourage newcomers to the profession with an elitist attitude now. Don't have ranger in your sig and you are somehow unworthy lol give me a break ![]()

Your right. This forum has always been a great place to post and converse. The revamp probably wont change that, but likeI said......I'm paranoid

I never said that.
WhatI said was "WhenI start seeing a lot of posts with out Scoutor Ranger sigsmy instincts tell me something is up." In other words I'm Paranoid. It has nothing to do with elitism. No one has to prove anything to me.........or anyone else for that matter. Do what you want, when you want, how you want,I don't care. Just don't expect me to trust anyoneuntilI get the opportunity to get to know them. Having a Scout / Ranger sig ( or any sig for that matter ) is just one way Ifigure out what someone is like beforeI respond to a post.
Besides there is aboutten peopleon this forum who's opinionI value right now. Two of them have already posted here. I havereadwhat they posted and taken that information into consideration. The rest of you can move along, your opinion means nothing to me. Thanks for responding though.......that tells me a lot about a person also.

Tells you a lot about me?
it tells you a little about me, and of course that little could well be fabricated. But of course, a few lines of prose should give you a much better idea than a sig.
From reading your other recent posts here I think I know a little about you as well. So there you go, we both think we know a little about each other.
Well my fellow ranger folks, change is in our future. Change does two things to professions:
1. New players of the profession
2. People who play other professions that are jealious that THEIR profession didn't get improved while some other profession did.
Looks like I may have started something here and certianly didn't mean to. I am very proud to be a part of this community of mature (mentaly (for the most part
) ) people. I rarely, if ever, flame people. Groundcrew, I'm sorry if my post came off sounding like an **edit** remark, but you don't judge people on sigs, judge by what they post. I've read a few or yours, and from them I gather you are fairly intelligent, but I never once read your sig.
If you want, take a look at my posts, in there somewhere is my " I mastered Ranger today " post. That will one, tell you when I became a Ranger, and two, what kind of Ranger I am. I aint no noob
. I just don't post that much, but I am here.
Now as far as the original post, yeah, yeah, people will be coming here posting stuff, some good posts and some crap, but the crap ones are delt with with dignity. They'll stop after a while.
I hate to say it, but, flaming (I know you said you werent, but it sures sounded like it to me) everyone who hasnt put a master ranger tag in their signature is exactly what is going to turn this great forum into another Jedi/BH forum

I think a lot of us are. I'm woried that the voices of the current community could get washed out in a sea of people that are more l33t-minded. But we have a responsibility as people who are Rangers in spirit to welcome all of these people, including the people we fear (Jedi/BH leet dudes). We must remain friendly and stuff. Show them that the game doesn't have to be all about power and stuff. The best way isn't to say those people arent' welcome, but to say that EVERYONE is welcome, but to regard those who act innappropriatly with great disdain. Teach them that that behavior isn't welcome here, not the people.
Be ourselves, hold ourselves to the same standards we have today, including not being elitist. Welcome them into the fold first. Show them how we act and let them know that's the way we expect people to behave-- with respect for others. Hold them to our standards, not lower to theirs. Those who have the spirit will fit in, even if they weren't Rangers before.
I hereby nominate Phenix as the "spirit" of the Ranger forum. ![]()
