Exploring seems to be turning into Camoflauge
Trapping is still here, just in a new form.
And some sort of "stealth" skill is in another form, I think.
I'm wondering about our camps though.

Man, just imagine how overpowered scout's going to be. At least, in reference to our lives as Rangers now.

Edit: Actually, without tracking or camoflauge, or high speed, what is a scout? Guess that's just harvesting now.

FYI...these are not really in the 'soon' category, yet, judging by TH's response.

awww...that's sweet.

I too lament some of the losses. I REALLY don't want to lose tracking (what's a better counter-espionage tactic than being able to render the camo less usefull because you already know they're there because of their tracks?). I still want camps!!!! lol. I really am not sure I want to be a PvP/NPC specific profession either. These changes are HUGE. I don't mind losing harvesting, the CU made those mods useless for the most part. I still want thrown traps, too.

I do like the idea that our ground traps are modular (hey, at least we got some modular stuff). I think that at this point, the devs are still open to some changes, too, so let's tell them that while we appreciate the new stuff, we don't neccesarily want to change entirely as a profession.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

My first reactions are:

  • This is what i percieved to be a true ranger so coolness all around

  • Im a bit upset about us not going the survival route

  • Love the unique role

  • Intrigued about how the biometric stuff works, can it be used by gathering data on creatures too?

They didnt really remove tracking just the technique. Instead of searching for tracks we will now use droids much like BH's. Of course this is myinterpritation and could be wrong.

Part of me is happy, but most of me is not. I enjoyed the wildlife and harvesting aspect of Ranger. I enjoyed the part they're steering the class away from. So long as they don't remove those parts I'll probably keep the profession, but if they do, then the class simply isn't Ranger anymore.

I really wonder just how much they listened to what we'd asked for.

Sorry to be a naysayer with very little to contribute, but this is just what I was afraid of--a redesign that turns us into another, very different class instead of building on the potential and skills we already had. It'll be a good class, there's some real nice additions, some of which we've long needed. The canon Rangers were always skilled in warfare; it's about time. But it breaks my heart to see the connection with nature being intentionally demphasized, severed even. It was that combination of skill and wilderness ability that made the class so special to me.

Yeah sounded like that.

I do love the idea that you search the planet using satalites and stuff once you know who you are targeting.

I wonder how we can get samples because surely if we find the target and takea sample we dont need to find them. Maybe in pvp as you can only have one player name then it searches out only one target but for npcs and creatures you can use say a gorax sample and search out all gorax?

Note, there is still no real combat role...we are still support (which is fine), with no mention of def, offense mods. I am all discombobulated right now...I will post more as I remember what I wanted to say.

Thats the line of thought I had. I think that would be a great addition. Time will tell, but I'm still pumped as hell.

I think we have our role layed out perfectly now, and thats stealth warrior. But yeah i wonder if we get any def/off mods too, we will have to see. The profession should go very well with combat combinations now.

Wow, just... wow. After so long.... And this is probably just a preliminary work-up, I'm sure more will get added/changed as we get closer to seeing it live. I'm... speechless....
