I just did that in another thread.
Excellent
Are there any Antarian Ranger chapters / guilds on Chimaera ? I checked the link in your sig and couldnt see chimaera listed so i assume not... shame really as most of the time im out helping a mate who is a jedi so my play style would kinda fit in really

The antarian rangers where also mentioned in Timothy Zahns books where one of the smugglers bodyguards is from Toprawa.
Ah, cool.. I didn't know that. Sounds like maybe Tyria Sarkin (from the x-wing Wraith squadron series) if it was a human female from Toprawa. She might've been carried over to his novel.
(Incidentally, the new role of ranger in the revamp (stealth/recon/spy/SpecOps) is nearly identical to the the EU and RPG Antarian Rangers and story of Tyria Sarkin)

Bahh Imperial Sector Ranger are better. We shave Bothans. I am glad to see the Antarians coming back though.
Some quests, like the different pilot squadrons, would be good where we get a choice of (faction specific) ranger groups to join!

Don't have the books in front of me at the moment, but I think Shada was a Mystryl Shadow Guard or something like that. And for some reason, I keep thinking that there was a type of Ranger mentioned in the original Han Solo Trilogy books (I think Han Solo at Star's End), but that'd require me to do some pretty heavy digging.
Tyria from Wraith Squad was indeed introduced in Allston's X-Wing books. Yub-yub!

There were, Trianii Rangers. A para-military force, sort of like a national guard, for a feline species whose space bordered the Corporate Sector. The Corp's have a history of trying to annex one or more of the Trianii's worlds. One of said rangers was caught by the CSA (Corporate Sector Authority) and sent to Stars End Prison. So hiswife and child(also rangers as they seem to have family oriented units) were part of the group people investigating the strange disappearances of folks not friendly to the Corporate Sector's powers that be.
For what it's worth, that's all from the top of my head.
And until today I have never ever heard of the Antarian Rangers. Now they are being help up as the prime example of what a Ranger in Star Wars should be!
Apart from a link to wizards of the coast rpg expansion book - which in all fairness was probably released just to make more money if WotC had anything to do with it - where else have the Antarian Rangers been featured?
Also, the Antarian Ranger role has been mentioned on these forums for almost as long as the game has been live.
There's probably an Antarian Ranger guild on every server, and the first one was started in the summer of '03. It was started by Zkull, of Ahazi, as an idea to form a like-named ranger guild across all galaxies.. There was a long running thread asking for name suggestions.
I think it was the rifleman corr at the time, who suggested the name "antarian rangers", and everyone seemed to like it.
Since then, most people have hoped for rangers to be able to play more of an Antarian Ranger role, like that of the EU.
<-- points to AR guild affiliation

I am impressed!
The coming changes do fit in nicely with the history and role of the Antarian Rangers (cant remember website, but do a search for it on the net and you´ll find good info), and we will probably see an upturn of such guilds across servers. Hopefully some will try to RP it well, i.e helping the Jedi (doing the dirty work), trying to evade beingdiscovered by the Empire.
If a few Jedi got away from the purges then most probably a few Rangers snuck away too, considering thats one of the things we do best...
Is this what you're referring to?
