Near asI can tell we were after a pritty even distribution between creature and military skills.

And now we get to keep the creature skills (the new scout) plus we get our paramilitary skills. So everyone gets something out of this.

Speaking from someone who has been here from the very beginning, I can absolutely tell you that Rangers never wanted to be "Super Scouts". We have always asked for a unique identitybut we were told from the very beginning that the devs at that time saw our profession as being "Creature Centric". Most of us accepted that and a lot of our early proposals (Outdoorsman ver. 1) were written with the ideas that we would always and forever be creature centric super scouts. There were howevera few among us that believed we could be so much more and I'm happy they stuck to their dreams and kept the idea alive.I'm one of those players thatreally enjoys the super scout roll of myMR but I'm also happy with the direction the devs are taking this prof. If I don't enjoy it when its all complete, I'm sure I will be able to change some boxes around be as effective as I've always been.

great points baneshee.

i enjoyed ranger as it was.. "super scout" or "scout x 2" because of the way i played. the way i see it now, is that i can actually be a better hunter of living organisms because of ranger instead of in spite of it.

I quit Ranger a looooooong time ago because I got tired of SOE asking for our input only to do nothing with it. And finally years after they've asked the community repeatedly, they give us something from left field. Whether you like the new revamp proposal, its NOT what the ranger community asked for.

Remind anyone of the CU ? We submit idea after idea and wammo this huge change comes out that sickens us. All because SOE goes overboard in anything it does.

From what I recall, all rangers wanted was an advantage over scout when it came to harvesting. We wanted traps to actually be effective. We wanted camoflauge to work. We wanted campsites to actually repel mobs and to matter again, like before the pet nerf which required a camp to take out. And we wanted a few cool ideas we suggested a year+ ago.

That was all SOE, we didnt ask to lose our harvesting ability to scout. In fact thats the last thing any ranger wants. How about listening this time ??? Maybe then you wont be so dumbfounded when another round of cancelled accounts puzzles you.

A good many of us never wanted to be Elite Creature Hunters. Many of us settled for that but always hoped for a more modern implementation of a Spec-Ops or Army Style Ranger. I for one think SOE is finally giving me and many others what we wanted. The problem is that the Ranger community as long as I can remember has always had two views(and possibly more)of what Ranger should be. Many will undoubtedly be disappointed but that is the aftermath of finally getting a revamp.

i dont mind the changes so much now after reading some replies. If the GCW ever gets fixed, the pvp change for rangers might make the prof popular. However I have the feeling this is going to end up as a MBH/Ranger vs jedi nerf war cry

I wish nothing but the best to the rangers of eclipse. You have my respect as I couldnt stick it out. It will be nice to see more of you around. And I hope they at least let you keep those cool camps

Well if you can't understand how drastic change from creature centric to PVP centric may bother somepeople dedicated to ranger impacts them then you are not cut out to deal with people. All changes have an adjustment whether you like it or not and the people who have been playing ranger have a big adjustment ahead of them...I will drop my ranger for scout when the changes take effect because I don't personally care for the jedi/PVP show off fest in major cities, which is all this game is comming down too.

Rangers will not become PVP centric because they can't be. There are no mods given out to reflect speed vs players, accuracy vs players. PVP will become a choice, in exactly the same way as hunting creatures will be a choice. I am perfectly understanding of the fact that there was a faction of rangers who wanted to keep and enhance the creature lifestyle and will be offended by this change, but really it was the only thing they could do. No other profession suffers such a handicap wherein your view of ranger restricts people from freely choosing to participate in aspects of the game. My view of ranger on the other hand does not hamper your ability to hunt creatures if you should so choose to do that. If I was in your shoes I would personally keep some ranger for a little bit of additional stealth, since it seems that you will be able to combine your maskscent with other stealth options, but honestly I suspect that many full time hunters have already dropped ranger long ago as an inefficient way to go about hunting on a regular basis, only the stubborn hold outs have remained. I myself have been holding out in the hopes that I might get a profession that allows me to choose what I want to do and Ive gotten it, I only hope that you and others in your camp come to see choice as a positive thing instead of a detriment to a profession as a whole.

Please dont include everyone in your definition of 'us'. I think SOE did a great job and have taken Ranger the direction is was suposed to go from day one.

Maybe they told YOU what YOU want, but to me, they gave me what I have been asking for.

And all this complainig, and yet you fail to give SOE points..you will get to keep you tempolater as it stands, keep all those Ranger skills migrating into Scout AND you get a whole new set of ELite profession skills, all w/o spending a single SP.

Methinks your scope of vision may be too limited..maybe you should read the new sticky up in the forum about Star Wars and Rangers.

Again, leave me out of your 'we'. Leave me out of your definition of 'us'

also dont whine about 'losing' skills to Scout..or did you forget that as a Ranger..you ARE a scout? and thaat almost ALL Ranger skills ARE Scout skills?

Im glad to see Ranger and Scout STOP being the same thing..sorry you arent, but thats the price of progress I spose
