Thread: Ranger Survey
i can see that it doesn't necessarily fit with the ranger persona but it definitely fits with star wars so its all good..
I don't like the sound of that Calculus. Maybe i'll go check out test center just to see how they are doing. Still, seeing a million vehicles and mounts everywhere isn't a big deal to me, but i don't want a million vehiches and mounts laggin up everywhere you go.
Oh and Scoer, i love your sig. Everytime i read that i laugh. Great Episode of FG ![]()
"Do the bikes speed across water?"
They work quite well over water actually... And it is quite fun to race around on Theed's water ways. ![]()

As well, everyone may want to check out the recent changes to the three starter vehicles described in Thunderheart's post:

Vehicles will come in handy when running to the krayt graveyard, Tusken fort or squill cave. They will provide a little support when I'm out exploring for stuff. But you still have to hunt on foot. I can't stress the importance of terrain negotiation and burst run efficiency while hunting big game. TN definitely helps while bringing down the biggies. Vehicles will add a dimension to the game, not take anything away.
I think the difference between mounts and vehicles will be extreme terrain and maintenance. From what I understand, cliffs, rocks, trees and buildings are NOT friends to vehicles. Everything should balance out.
I'll probably only use a vehicle in place of a shuttleport. If I need quite transportation through the wilderness, I'll happily take a vehicle through the wilds of what I know rather than move slowly on my Dewback (whichI have, yet manage to also outrun...eh, guess I just like the look).
The only real use for me is in a pinch of long travel. I'm willing to walk, I've done it before, I'll do it again. That's why I'm a Ranger.
I live on Lok where travelling can be very very dangerous, if you aren't careful. Right now I travel by kaduu from Nym's Stronghold to my home city. The route I take usually follows along the river since it's easier to avoid high level aggro creatures and pirates there. If I get attacked along the way I guide my kaduu into the water and swim. He swims like a fish and I LOVE that about him. I notice peopIe saying that they arefaster than their mounts, but Rusty (my kaduu)seems to go about 50% faster than I can on foot. Ialways hunt on foot, but I often use Rusty to get me to my mission/hunting site if it's more than 1000m away. I'm looking forward to having vehicles and will most likely get a bike. I absolutely HATE waiting for shuttles so I'll usethe biketo go from place to place in liu ofthebuy-shuttle-ticket-wait-for-shuttle-transfer-with-no-scenic-veiw option we are all kind of stuck with right now. Even now I prefer a kaduu ride over taking the shuttle most of the time, especially on Tatooine where I'm very familiar with the terrain and critters.
As far as a speeder being a detriment to the pristine quality of our outdoor environs, I'd have to ask...what exactlyis it thatthey ruin? If they run on fuel that doesn't harm the atmosphere, they have no wheels to tear up the ground, and if you can handle one without crashing into the trees and killing yourself in the process, they should leave the environment as pristine as it was before. Heck a camp fire might do more damage than a speeder bike, huh? I don't see any reason why a Ranger would be opposed to using one for utilitarian travel. It makes getting around and seeing the countryside just that much easier.
