I miss the fear as well. I was poking around the SpiderCult cave on Dath with two guild members of mine trying to finish a star map quest, and I was paranoid. But after I died due to some accident with our doctor and came back, the fear was sort of dead. I mean, I just followed my TKM/MSword/Doc friend down there and he tanked the entire cave. It was insane. Sure I could pull spiders one at a time, but come on, he already soloed it once the day before. It's a lot harder to fear the animals around the planets when you see "Oh they're only 81s" and figure you can take em with a friend nearby. I remember back when I was but a measily MScout following a group into that cave years ago and running for my life as some guy in full comp tanked NS elders while 10 of us ran around shooting for our lives.

Ya just lose some of the experience when everything becomes level based. There's no risk to it anymore. I used to be paranoid of carper spineflaps having workers around, now they're like, what, level 14 at best? The whole experience of a "wild" wilderness dies with the level system.

I agree totally and miss the old days as well. Everytime I took on a critter for the first time I used to check the resists and make sure to use the right weapon and think the fight throug entirely before I'd fire the first shot. That made hunting demanding, fun and an exercise for the Jello upstairs which was great and I had a blast. But nowadays I don't have to do most of that anymore. Sure I think through the fight beforehand, a little, but can leave out the rest. Most of the time I don't even have to watch the radar because nothing will atack me, great wildlife, and don't get me started on earning XP.

It would be great if most critters could take on the aproach of Tigg's signature, that would make exploring and hunting interresting (you know, the "... for thou art crunchy and go well with kechup" bit).

Oh well, I guess it's a fact of life that the Good Old Days have got to move on.
