but you might as well be trying to bring back corpse runs.
Corpse runs rocked
They were such a great feature apart from the fact you went nakey.
How i loved running back up rancor mountain on dathomir to collect my belongings after being ambushed by a pack of nightsisters. Ofcourse that was back when groups were great, camps were usefull and my backpack wasnt filled with 15mil of weapons and gear hehe
I spent 2 days on Endor making corpse runs. That was back when critters spawned on Endor.../sigh. We had three people trying to get to 1 corpse and 2 would die running interference for the third. Of course those 2 died and a vicious cycle was born. Then we had to pool our money so one of us could get back home and run missions to get the other two off of Endor....I miss those days!

lol ya
did cause some problems but i didnt mind the option of venturing out with groups to get a body back
Would be cool if we got the choice, do corpse run, or clone normal with xp loss and wounds.

i am a big fan of the addition of weather effects, & i quite like the ideas you put out owen. esp the BF effects, that is just fantastic.
i would like to throw in a few other comments that washell made awhile back in an exchange we had about environmental effects in regards to vehicles (i have tried to do the html links & they always fail for me, so here is the long format, sorry http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=ranger&message.id=53764#M53764)
increase decay to vehicles in storms, but make artisan craftable kits to lessen that damage. also drasticaly slow vehicles top speed in poor visibility.make them not work at all on some planets (hoth, if ever added, would be an apropriate place for the latter), or make "no fly zones" in the remote areas of the high level adventure planets (such as parts of dathomir & endor).
provide "native" mounts for CH's to train that negate some of the environmental effects & are noteffected like vehicles in the "no fly zones" (again, tauntauns were more reliable than speeders on hoth). also allow BE's to make pets who can operate better in a particular environments (cold weather rancors & aquaticbanthas
)
allow tailors to craft the enviromental kits to lessen the effects of harsh weather. (i really like your rapid decay ideas & the descriptions you gave for the ones you were thinking of)
give rangers a solo/group negate to the BF effects, thus allowing us to lead groups into the wilderness safely.
like washell said in the post i linked to, i think that environmental effects could potenially have the backing of at least five professions & would greatly add to the depth & immersion of the game.

Its Jakkin who fired the engines in my head up, and the other guys who added ideas along the way. I just advanced on those and offered my take on things, how i would like to see things.
I totally agree with what you and washell said about rapid vehicular decay and reductions in effectiveness. I cant remember having a discussion with fred and nemo mainly in the'ranger only zones' thread, abit of-topic but about how there should be restrictions on where certain vehicles can go.
For instance i would make the current speeders and bikes only work onthe main core planets (not endor, yav, dath). On dath i would only allow mounts fortravel and the same for yavin. For endor i would onlyallowforest speedervehicles. These things have alifespan of a daybut allowyou toexperience the rush of flying through the woods with full graphics on and field of view turned on (field of view on maxmakes it seem like youtravelling 500mph hehe).

I had thought of this for a while, but never got around to posting it.
I would suggest BF damage, minor mind wounds, even less health wounds, minor damage. Have thing like sandstorms and monsoon lower terrain negotiation, and accuracy, but increase camoflauge/cover (sinec its harder to see)
But I doubt we would get this within a year, if ever.

This is a great post! It deserves a sticky.
Also what are your thoughts about it Calculus Entropy? Would this be possible to implement or would it be to hard to code? Maybe with the combat revamp it will be possible because of all the different changes to ham and various other things.

Is the posible to imnplement? I suppose so.
Is it hard to code? I am sure of it, but I don't know.

i would be VERY disappointed if this is not introduced into the game, its a good idea. i would very much like it because then people would actually need a ranger for something other than harvesting (there isn't always something to harvest ya'know). it would also help increase the'atmosphere' of the game as far as wandering around the rain/sand storms are concerned. maybe one day in the distant future when they actually add a snow and snow blizzards are added we can have it with that too.

On the grounds that non-ranger characters can wear protective clothing, I'm all for this.

I'd be happy just to see the npc's react to the weather. I find it funny how when it's stormingoutside at Coronet, Theed, or Bestine all the npc's just stand around in the storm like it's aclear sunnyday.
Another plus side togettingus inside during storms is itwould create some new interaction for everyone. I kinda miss the 10min shuttle waits cause that was usually the only time i actually talked to anyone other than guildie's.

i raised this issue yesterday in my guild and i think that everyone in there agreed this would be one real cool feature in the game that would create interaction, as someone also said earlier.
