"Not every ranger wants to be a crafting maniac lol."

Exactly why factories were implemented... So you wouldn't need to craft each and every kit manually

"Not every Ranger wants to own factories that somewhat tie them down"

My Doctor companion sets up his factory when he needs more components... Then simply redeeds it when he is finished.

"some Rangers like to run "light" so that the bulk of what they pull in, they can sell."

It only takes three of the available resources on a planet to make the kits... A Ranger could store those up for later kit creation, and sell the other resource stacks.

----

Ihave no problem with the stash idea, its very intriguing... And indeed would be very helpful.

I'm simply suggesting what Rangers can do now to solve some inventory shortages.

I think this comes back to the idea of the Hunting Cabin. I'm not sure whose idea it was but I saw it in one of Nraas's lists.

If the items people put in the cabin could stay there when we picked it up and moved then it wouldwork as a type of "carry around" storage. There would definitely have to be rules for it though, like only one cabin can be placed at a time, and that cabin would have to take up one of your lots. Then the problem still remains that people would just carry multiple cabins and place whichever one had the item they wanted. There would need to be a limit on how many you could own I suppose.

I'm really keen on the whole Hunting Cabin idea in general, but I think it could be used to help people's storage problems too.

The Hunting Cabin, as it has been discussed lately, would not be a redeedable structure. It could be placed once and only once. You're only other option would be to destroy it and make a new one.

This was a very good idea made by someone to mitigate the possible backlash from the architect community.

I'm really glad people like the cabin idea now... It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Unfortunately, I doubt that there is a way around having these safe caches take up a lot. The lot restrictions were put in place to help cut down on the amount of clutter bogging down the servers.

Lets take a look at whats in the average joe "Ranger's" backpack. Now not your master the "I just started Ranger".

09 Armor. Just incase the Mask Scent or Camo breaks good kinetic protection is a must.

03 Clothing. Because you can't recover very will in armor and don't want the stained underwear showing.

03 Camps. Always have 1 or a few ready. Got to get that wilderness xp.

10 Traps. There are a bunch of types and very handy!

04 Weapons. We all have to have a few guns etc.

06 Survey Tools. Now not every Ranger has survey but it can make a lot money just selling the locations.

03 Crafting Kits. So you can chain craft traps and camps.

06 Small stim packs. Hey I don't want to die out here!

03 Fishing supplies. Its fun and wilderness xp. Plus its going to make some money for pet stims!

So here we are at 42 items before we count resources for Camo kits or the tons of different types of Hide, Meat & Bone from different planets. The metal, Chemical resources for traps and camps etc. Or the deeds for Harvesters or power etc.

Lets face it most of us are pack rats! "Don't Destroy that!" its still good might need that. There areslaves I mean workerson Yavin 4 without coats why destroy good hide!

The fact is that you can't sell most hide etc if its not in amounts of 600+ so we end up saving a bunch of stuff thinking we might get back there and get some more.

Rangers should be able to operate without having to run to some bank or house!

"I just want being a Ranger to have something special other than tracking."

As does every Ranger.

Eventually we will have new camps and traps (these have been announced previously, but are not in thenextpatch).

There are also suggestions made by other Rangers to further differentiate ourselves from the Scout line.

Sadly, all this does take time... And patience.

Roncole,

After reading your post again I think that is one of the best idea's I have heard in a long time. Unfortunetly I have 2 characters on the same server, the other is a Master Weaponsmith-Master Artisan-Novice Architech and novice medic. You want to talk about resources piling up, ACK. Most other players would complain that they don't have a 75 item "Ranger locker" in their inventory, and my crafter would be one of them...

What I have learned has already been mentioned. Don't be such a pack-rat, make those loose stacks of hide and bone into something usefull I.E... traps, camp or drop the price and liquidate on the bazaar, or heck even delete them. You want to keep the good stuff to sell so get rid of some of the not so good stuff, but thats just the way I manage inventory, to each his or her own I guess...

P.S...deleting items will make the developers and the servers happy and besides your a Ranger you can get tons more hide and bone in an hour so!

Y'all carry a lot of stuff, and I thought I was bad.

I carry two crafting tools, a generic and a specialized. Maybe a weapon repair tool, if I can find one that has a 95% rating. Thats it. No survey stuff, lost it a while back

Weapons, 3 pistols and a back up for each. Powerups in a factory crate.

No armor, hence no need to carry extra clothes. I do carry a shield generator. Clothes, boots, shirts vest, pants, goggles. No foo foo stuff, takes up space. And all my clothes have enhancement tapes, and if/when they start to work, oh boy, I am cooking.

First Aid pack - stuffed, I got Pharm 4 for a reason. I heal me in camp. You name it, I got it, with a factory crate of stimBs.

Pet stims. Gotta have em, and food for the monsters.

Traps. Pdarts, adhevsives, glow wire. And the stuff to make em, but most of the time, I use what I harvest and knock em out. I do carry polymer and a metal at all times.

Camps. 1 small one, 1 medium, 2 FBs, 2 HTFBs. Craft a replacement when you use one, first thing. The smalls are for quick calling of a pet, or quick healing, the bigs... for the stay a while times.

At worst, my pack is at 40, I am at 60% cap of max carry. Plenty of room for extra junk. A ton of stuff at the bank, some in the house.

And a tip. I got a R4 unit with a small storage module, he has a flight suit, boots, StimBs and a blaster inside. For when dying becomes the corpse run again, I am not gonna be naked and unarmed.
