Rangers should not have to be tied to a bank or home to stock the tons of different hides, meats and bone resouces.

The Droid Eng's or Tailors should be able to make a "Ranger Locker" this could be a cert for ranger at Frontiering I ( I suggest ). The "Ranger Locker" could be in the datapad and only accessable when in a camp. This "Ranger Locker" could have a storage of say 75. Half of a small house. Now as the Ranger moves up in the Frontiering Tree maybe he/she could have more than one locker?

Just a suggestion.

Vote yes or no to add this to the Profession!

yeah, something to this effect would be nice, currently I have too many types of hide, bone, and meat from different planets to keep track of which is which.

That would be soooo cool. Especially if there was a spot in the FB that you had drawers that you could file the various bits around in, like say all the Lokian components in drawer 3: pull emt outand make the kits in camp.

Can't believe I never thought about that one

I think this would be kinda neat. We could have little caches of supplies spread across the planet.

The only way I could see this happening is if they took up one of our current lots, just as a harvester or house does.

This would make an interesting specialty "camp" for the frontiering line.

The idea of lockers or buried stashes has been suggested before.

It's an interesting idea, but as Ki_Gu_Lon pointed out, it would require the use of a lot to limit their use.

How would they be visualized? A mound of dirt with a flag to denote the position?

NO I would not want it to take lots or be anything to do with building etc. When you get into that the limit is 10 and some of the high level planets won't allow building etc.

The game has shown it can limit items in the datapad. Look at the Non-CH's can only have 2 pets ( or 3 faction pets ). But if Your a CH you can have 4. Then as youmove up in CH you can have more.

Think of the "Ranger Locker" as a Droid that can't move once called. That when you open it ( Like a droid storage unit ) you can access your stuff. Unlike the droid the storage for a "Ranger Locker" would hold 75 items. It would be best if you could only call it from a camp. And of course only be useable by Rangers.

This would have a big plus of being moveable for Rangers and not be tied to a house. We could stay out in the wilderness longer and use them on the high level planets.

You can already use your weapon/droid/general crafting tool as a 100-space "storage" when near a specific serial number weapon/droid/general station, so why not have at-least the same thing - using your crafting tool near your station, after-all there is a chest of drawers right there. Of-course this limits it to Frontier-4's for those who only have weapon/droid crafting tool such as myself, or Frontier-3's who buy their camps.

an extra "locker" that you carry around and can only use in your camp would be good too, but then takes-up another space in your inventory (but gives you 100 more, I hope... so GREAT).

Perhaps the simplest and most realistic thing to do would be to have a ranger only backpack with twice or three time the capacity of a regular backpack. Akin to the alpine backpacks you see people hike with in real life.

There is obviously an interest in more storage...

But... The game can barely handle the current deluge of items, so its doubtful the developers would implement any more permanent storage options without some restrictions attached.

The stash idea is merit... However it would need to be tempered with the use of a lot...

And possibly reduced storage limits (possibly 25), as it has beensuggested having multiple of them.

----

At the moment, I use only half my bank box andhalf of my inventory space...

What does everyone use their space for? And why do you need more of it?

Its not just a Ranger issue either though...Rangers, now that we have conceal kits, and any medic based profession have a pretty insane amount of "stuff" that they really need to carry around with them and/or keep stored in homes/bank. Medics are a bit worse off than we are in fact, since we can, worst case scenario, only carry the stuff we need for certain planets we are going to be on for awhile.

In my case, it got so annoying keeping track of it all, that I broke down and spent about 25k to 30k on satchels to keep it organized. Specifically, I have a stachel for each planet(and renamed it to that planet) and inside I keep all the conceal kits and resourced needed to make them for that planet. Then I keep them all stored in the bank and just nab the satchel I need based on the planet I'm going to.

I also keep a wearable backpack and two stachels on my person. One satchel is for traps/camps, the other is for general supplies I keep for personal use in making Ranger/scout items. Both I keep stored in my backpack to save up some room and keep things less cluttered.

But yeah, more storage would be nice, or maybe just a "free" way to keep things organized...all those satchels and such take up space too by themselves, and I really need them to keep it all together.

Ranger-only backpack is an interesting idea. Could be limited by only allowing it to hold harvested resources and scout/ranger crafted items. Or allow a Ranger to store additional items in a travel pack as Frontiering goes up (nobody packs more efficiently than a real survivalist).

I can vouch for that... My Doctor companion carries a large variety of resources in his inventory.

However...

He doesn't really need to. He makes crates of thevarious subcomponents (there are 4 of them).

From those crates he can make all the high level meds he needs... So he doesn't need to carry the resources with him (he can use the bank box to store the raw material).

----

This same philosophy can be used to reduce a Ranger's inventory requirements...

From three resource stacks down toone crate of completed kits... The remaining resources could be stored in a bank box.

This is what I intend to do with once the new changes hit Live.

True, factory crates a certainly an option thats available now..but the main problems with factories are:

1) Not every ranger wants to be a crafting maniac lol.

2) Not every Ranger knows someone who has factories...which leads to:

3) Not every Ranger wants to own factories that somewhat tie them down or add something else to keep track of

4) In order to effectively use a factory, you really ought to nab as many resources as you can nab for your conceal kit types...some Rangers like to run "light" so that the bulk of what they pull in, they can sell.

All that said, sure, factories are a great way to go...its just another alternative of some sort would be nice.
