Thread: Carbines & Rangers The Perfect Combo?
Ive been using a Pistol and had pretty good success so far. I run around with FWG5 for trapping range shots and a DX2 if the critter gets too close. Course it also helps to run with a pair of Tusk cats hehe. Been having fun with Ranger so far.

Start on Starsider and I'll level you up fast.
I'm master marksman as well as Ranger 0/0/3/0.

My hunting makes me stay on my feet alot, so pistol is best. Carbine would be my second choice because I tend to stay a good distance from the animal, but Pistol rocks and my accuracy is 125 plus creature-to-hits. I disintegrate game. Uh, usually....

If you're trando you get creature harvest but also unarmed xp would be useless for carbine. Take Zabrak, they can equalize and that's handy when you're getting eaten.

I don't get why you guys say rifle is so bad. I was taking down bull torturs or whatever they're called with my bowcaster before I reached rifles 4 let alone novice rifleman. It just takes a bit more strategy than kiting.
Here's a random thought with nothing to do with the topic. Think about a Twi'lek entertainer knifing chubas with the survival knife they start with and getting incapped. It happened. I was there.

Erm, sigh, I thought this whole time that I was in that 'now you're playing the game' stage.
Without specials, I average 300 dps with my pistol regardless of distance, posture, or movement of me or the target.
With Body Shot three I can average 800 dps.
Pointblank:1100, depending on resists.
I've hit stuff with Fan Shot for 1300, and can spam it once every 2 seconds with pistol 3/4/4/3, master marksman and BH pistol 2.
With BH pistol I can stack 3 bleeds, blind the animal without a trap, and pistoleer gives me warning shot, threaten shot, suppression shot, pistol knockdown to break contact, and pistol smash and pointblank single and area shots.
For some reason, holding a pistol makes you 2.5 times tougher than holding a rifle.
If they drop pistol cap to .5, double all the above.
Still think pistol is for newbs? ![]()

All with pistol. Try this with a rifle and if you win make sure you take screenie, I wanna see it. ![]()

Wound chance is the chance that little black marks will appear on the targets' ham bars. ![]()
What? You didn't save a little Twi'lek newbie girl who probably didn't even know she needed novice brawler? What kinda ranger are you?
Reminds me of a novice entertainer I once knew, hunting kreetles in high heels with a CDEF, and getting incapped.

If cover worked for rifle I agree Ranger / Rifleman would be awesome.
Once the fix cover rifle will be 10x better.

BH Pistol + Pistoleer is a totally different ballgame than plain Pistoleer. Pistol speed and accuracy bonuses stack, and your speed doubles at 50 pistol speed, doubles again at 75 pistol speed, doubles again at 87.5 pistol speed, etc etc until you are hitting the speed cap of 1 second with every special, including stopping shot. The formula is Weapon Speed * Special Delay Mod * (1 - (Pistol Speed skill/100)). The pistoleer master box has +20 speed, so just under master you have +54 pistol speed, at master you have +74 pistol speed. (master box doubles your speed) Getting master marksman + 1 box of BH pistol in addition to that master pistoleer gives you a total speed skill of +89. (more than doubling your speed) Each BH pistol box gives you either +10 or +20 speed.
Sorry for the off-topic-ness. Too many math freaks in the pistoleer forums, I've been indoctrinated.
Anyway, if you want to hook up with Antarian Rangers on Valcyn, send an in game email to Ikoru.
