Thread: Bank accounts and Rangers
It's sad to see Ranger become a FOTM just because greedy players want to make money. Play Ranger to play Ranger, not to make money.
(btw most of what I gather I either trade or sell for under 5CPU. I don't gouge my customers with 70+CPU prices. Believe me, they'll pat your back in return later on when they remember you as the guy "who did not try to rob me blind")

Otherwise, I hunt and track for free for my guildmates ALL the time and routinely give free grind resources to new players or people who need a leg up.
Why are people so down on a free market economy? If someone offers me 150cpu, I'm gonna sell my stuff to them at 150cpu. I consider myself a very community-friendly player and I don't think selling high-quality good for high-prices makes me a bad ranger.

Not you man. I'm not referring to the long-time Rangers here who have stuck with it. I'm talking about all the new Rangers around who are only in it to make a little money.
oh, ok then... disregard my post, lol
I'm bored at work adn the forums aren't busy enough today! I just wanna go home and play SWG.
I'm down to 17 million.. I'm a bit burned out on hunting at the moment and have been spending most of my time on my merchant/crafter. Dropped Architect for Armorsmith.
I'm not sure how people can gouge prices though.. I've never had to create a price for my resources. I just accept what is offered or I pass on the hunt.
If anything, this new wave of post solo-group rangers actually prevents price gouging. I'm actually glad to see some of the crafters I know pay slightly lower prices while having no problem finding people to hunt for them. That way I don't have to feel guilty if I'm unavailable to hunt, as I know they have a larger pool of suppliers these days. If I do hunt for them, I know they'll still buy my resources, so where's the harm?
The way I see it, it keeps the crafters in business.. If they're not in business, who buys creature resources?

they get over 10 mil because they probably do some mineral mining on the side while they go hunt.
Well it is wise to seize opportunity when it arises. Good luck is very helpfull as well. I could actually make a living hunting if I had a dozen contacts, considering my servers population, however it would take the sum of their contributions and weeks of hunting before a noticeable increase of funds appear.
Big game hunts help, especially if a novice ranger with only the harvesting branch (please forgive my memory it is late in my day) is filled is a TKM or some other type of nicely overbalanced combat proff where they are more than ample to jump on each opportunity reguardless of planets skill level.
Then there is the luck. That is how I topped 3million. By assitance from friends, out for a quick few creds, I gathered enough of the market resource for a quick 200k creds within an hour simply by running around in between kills sharing in the harvesting of every dead creature that fell from the sky. My luck actually appeared blissfull after partaking in this great profession for 2 months by tracking a creature a padawan was nearly fed up searching for. Two million creds later, you can call it a charitable contribution to the ranger cause. My tale in the campfire thread explains all and my philosphy on our profession.
All of the people that i have helped out/outfitted get an AV21, 2 sets comp armor and any weapons they need or want. They also get some droids and spending money, a house or two, a factory if need be and bio clothes. I usually spend 1.5 to 3 million a person. I also make sure I find at least one noob a week and make sure to teach them stuff n game and give them everything that I really wanted when I started out!
To say the least, ranger has been very good to me.
I run missions when I cant afford to get off planet. Which, since JTL came out, isnt often.
I find if I have more I blow it all on bio engineered animals that I cant fit in my datapad. /shrug
