Well thats the difference between a Ranger & a Master Ranger. A plain ol Ranger who hasnt filled the boxes is half-baked compared to a Master Ranger.
They hot fixed us, Im happy, a MAster Ranger can still out harvest a lesser Ranger, not to mention all the other goodness of Rangering that the half-baked Ranger has bypassed.
I respect their choice but they just arent as cool as a Master Ranger

I plan to be Ranger 1040 in the end, because I just don't have enough skillpoints, and I want to be Smuggler, AND Ranger. In having to make the hard decision in which I want to master, and which I can only do part way, I found my heart was in Smuggler more. Not only is it a skill point limitation, I also fully intend to Master Ranger before dropping back down to 1040.
I do not, however, see myself or others, who in general, don't find themselves with the master box to be posers.
Dabbling is one of the great things about the skill tree system in SWG, and while there's more respect involved for someone who devotes more of themselves to master a profession, partial professions are a valid part of the game.
Where dabbling turns sour is when people take up a small piece of a profession that gives them a lot of power, but not because they like the skill, but because they're crazy template watchers, and it's something that makes them rich or uber. I have done my fair share of condemning jedi who picked up no more of dirty fighting than the feign death skill, only to use it to abuse the BH missions, and ultimately hurt a skill from a profession they care nothing for.
Perhaps people who use Ranger for nothing more than 0040 just to act like organic vending machines are doing the same...
Edit: To clarify/cover my own butt.. I'm picking up 1040 because I want to be able to track. Not to shill my services to jedi, protect jedi, or hunt players for the BH.. I want to track for me.

0/0/3/0 Ranger here. No more skill pts. I am a wook MCH, Master Scout, Master Pistols (moving to rifles). What am I supposed to do with those left over skill points? Do I wear a ranger tag? No. As far as traps go, should I feel like using them, I have the scout traps. Camps, I have my scout traps. I have mask scent and +25 BE clothes. The rest of the ranger trees did not interest me, so I went up the harvesting one. It was the logical progression for my character.

I am heading to 0040 with my new character, the main reason being I wanthim to be supplier of resources both organic and inorganic, even just the skill points used to getNovice Merchant render Master Ranger unobtainable.
His final template (when I finish it!)
Master Rifleman
Artisan 0043
Novice Merchant
Medic 1000
Ranger 0040
Master Scout
If I had Master Ranger I wouldloose the ability to heal myself or to run my 'shop' :
Master Rifleman
Master Ranger
Master Scout
Artisan 0001
