Hm, that theory WOULD explain an awful lot. He comes out of nowhere (terrific camo!), locates you no matter where you are, and fades back into the wilderness when he's done talking. And he never shows up at NPC cities. You may be right-the geezer may very well have been one of us once upon a time..!
