Thread: Problems with areatrack?

I was trying to help a guildie track down this wookie in the Rryat trail canopy, for a quest he had. We found him, alright, but not "visually." I areatracked him, and stood within 4 meters of him according to my areatracking, but he was no where to be found. I tried to /target him, but that didn't return anything, not even an error message.
Because waypoints can be made on one point of the trail, and when you select "view waypoints only in this region," it shows them in another trail area, I concluded that the wookiee in question was on another level, but at that same waypoint on it.
Long ago when I was a Master BH/0-0-4-0 Ranger on Wanderhome, this would happen to my marks all the time (The droids were buggy back then, you needed some traking skill). I forgot what the issue was, but it sounds similar to this.

The Rryatt trail is notorious for people ANDmobs falling through the elevated terrain to the true ground below. The wookiee you tracked was on the ground level, directly below where you tracked him to. I saw that wookiee 3 times at the canopy level, but when I actually had the quest I couldn't find him in the canopy. I fell through the canopy and managed to find and kill him on the ground level.
On the subject of the Rryatt trail, its EASY to fall through or walk to the ground level in the Web Weaver path. you can easily walk on the ground level to the 'islands' and then climb the sides of them, bypassing most of the creatures ![]()
